Also, Ikeda suddenly spotting Sasaki felt out of place, his obsession with maturity is confusing as well. Rio doesnt even feel like Rio anymore tbfh. It was a depressing story that never really picked up. One thing I did like was how "simple" their traumas were, like Im so used to physical abuse, violence, rape (Penetration, not assault like Rio's revolting brother did (Dont get me wrong, what he did was still fucking AWFUL)) death, etc-- the shit you see in all media these days- and how much it impacted them and their sense of relationships, because that's usually how it is irl. Just one moment, one touch, one second of social ostracization or embrassment or bullying can fuck. you. up.

don't get me wrong i loved this sm especially the latter seasons i just found s1 where he was peak chuuni so fucking funny im so sorry im so sorry LMFAO him going "he's my prey!" then it was him assaulted or him going "hmph all these ppl r so pathetic" he knda seems like the type to rlly think there are alpha and beta males. glad he calmed down in the chuuni department. laughed my ass off with that i like how no one took his sht (including seme) srsly seme never saw him as a threat wc was why it was easy for seme to fall for him bc uke gave exactly what he needed without using him or posing drastic harm to him in exchange. NGL i expected them to be like severely toxic and all with mutual manipulation with the reviews and all but idk seme for the most part seems like just a guy knda felt like uke was playing 4d chess on his own only person uke has successfully manipulated was himself
and i respect that! seme suffered a lot i feel bad for him he was destined for greatness but had the shittiest luck ever. he loves people deeply but the world was out to harm him. i get why he fell for the uke so sincerely. I liked how you could tell by his eyes and with his affectionate actions the way he was falling in love. how he lost his sharpness/being guarded when his stressors were gone one by one amazing art to portray this progression so well. uke was insane enough to obsess and bet all his life on giving seme a better life. i rlly get why in seme's pov it's the ultimate gesture. uke worked so hard to get where they are now lol. i respect the grind.

The older actor is significantly more mature than the younger one. He is also significantly more accomplished. He is clearly a mentor figure to a younger person who looks up to him and significantly more child-like, in a very real sense, compared to himself. While 24 and 31 are not far apart enough to raise eyebrows in every situation, this is definitely a situation where it would be concerning. Because the effective age gap is a lot larger because of additional power gap and hierarchial gap.
It would be really gross for the older actor to encourage and misuse his young colleague confusing respect and gratitude as sexual interest. The responsible and the moral thing for the older, wiser person to do is to stop the boy's confusion as soon as he realises it and help him see wisdom and to not soil the mentor-student relationship. This kind of a character dynamic would be better served in a shounen. The older character is giving a much older sibling vibes. Romance stories should not be written around these kinds of dynamics. A good shorthand for what kind of dynamics should not be sexualized is if at any moment you feel that an inter-character dynamic can be likened to a familial dynamic in anyway, that's your sign to stop writing a romance centred on these characters and go back to the drawing board. Acquaintances energy. Green. Friends energy. Green. Family energy. Big flashing Red flag.

Quick summary on the characters’ history:
704 (black hair repear) and Eunjae (grey hair human) were brothers in their past life, while San (blonde) was close friends with 704 since childhood. San’s family was a shaman family while 704’s family was sort of like nobility and his father was a high ranking official.
Hwan, that ghostly monster, existed due to all the wars and famine and other terrible stuff, and was wrecking havoc. It possessed 704’s father who then massacred the village including San’s family. San escaped with his family heirloom, a golden fan. While running away he meets Yama (one of the underworld kings) who sort of “releases” the heirloom into its goblin form, and that Goblin is Geumsun (blue hair).
Geumsun ends up falling in love with 704 who takes care of him. However, 704 later learns that Hwan has been haunting his brother Eunjae all this time and Eunjae has been giving in to protect 704. 704 confronts Hwan to save Eunjae. Eunjae, possessed by Hwan, ends up killing 704. In the fight Hwan ends up severely wounded. The manga then starts after this in modern time.
