I think it has about 1000 chapters so far. As for myself I'm in the early 300s and am still entertained. There's both a lot of political stuff going on but their relationship is still developing well.

Nope the chapters are short and it kept you hooked to read more and more. The world building are interesting, the side characters have their own personality too

I'm someone who have dropped many novel and manhwas cause they bore me but not this one, even the slow burn are enjoyable too. I just reach their first time together in chapter 460ish and it's worth it sooo worth the slow burn

if i remember correctly their relationship in the novel progress around 600+ chapters ㅋㅋㅋ but it is indeed a good read if you have time

Its a very satisfying read and i love how the story revolves around such strong world building, great antagonist and power duo+ power side characters!!!(≧∀≦)

It’s been a long time since I’ve read this, but afaik she gets dragged back to the palace once he finds her.

He doesn’t actually need to work for her forgiveness because he’s the emperor and uses the power at his disposal to make sure she can’t leave him.

Sure, he may act all nice but at the end of the day she’s pretty much his prisoner.

The closest I’ve seen a manhwa get to good quality grovel is ‘What it means to be you’. TW for HEAVY featuring of suicide though, so read at your own risk.

I’m so sorry, I was so focused on my rant that I completely forgot to tell you WHY he kicked her out.

Afaik he divorced her right after they consummated their marriage because the marriage was on the orders of his father who had just croaked (presumably around the same time they were having sex, which made me wonder if this was meant to be a comedy for a hot minute).

She then runs away.

Fast forward 6-7 years and he send a troop of imperial knights to drag and her child back.

So... wait... he kicked her out because of grief or something? Did he feel like them consummating the marriage fucked the life right out of his dad or some shit? This makes no sense.

Lol no, it’s just that he never wanted to marry her in the first place. Which is fine.

What isn’t fine is dragging her back to the palace afterwards. And he did all that to get some inheritance out of her.

The experience is different for everyone, but at least in my case, I didn’t get any satisfaction from reading it, just a spike in blood pressure

Yeah, I understand that. I'm not dissing on anybody that would enjoy this but hearing that makes me feel like there are just other stories I could spend my time on. ╮(￣▽￣)╭ I also feel like it'd probably annoy me more than any enjoyment I'd get out of it.
Like I said, there are things like YouTube shorts and pics I see online that make me think it looks cute, but I feel like I'd be annoyed by what I consider a "stupid" misunderstanding.

Probably the latest one I read that I didn't mind was Kiss Me, Liar (the bonus story). That wasn't too bad, but it was also very specific circumstances.
They certainly are few and far between though. ╥﹏╥

Actually.... he divorced her because he thought she was unhappy with him and was just being forced to be with him. He did not believe she loved him, he thought that her kindness towards him was all an act forced upon her by her father, because he(ML) could see she was struggling with being the future empress and how hard it was for her. He did not do anything before their wedding as he had no power to stop it. It wasn’t until after his father's death, that he could. In his mind, when they divorced, he was setting her free. He did not want to be her shackles, even if he loved her.

What the previous commenter is talking about is what we're made to believe in the beginning of the story. It's around the middle where we find out his true reasons. Also, there is now the big reveal that her father might have something to do with ML's mother's death, and he knew.

But to reiterate... ML loved the FL even when he tried to hate her(after he found out her father's crime). He did want to be with her even if it meant his death, he just didn’t think she actually wanted to be with him. He thought she was veing forced to be with him and make sure he was happy. But ML wanted her to be happy and not tied down by obligation. So the first chance he got, he divorced her. He did it right away because he knew if he waited, he would not be able to let her go.

Maybe I'll put it back on the list but that still kind of annoys me. While I have sympathy for him and the situation that he was in I, firstly, get annoyed with that sort of 1-sided decision making. Even though I understand the circumstances may have called for him being unable to ask her freely and trust her answer. But. secondly, I feel like that is also a commonly utilized trope, and I don't know if I still feel like it'd be worth it for "this specific story". Though I might keep it on to pass the time someday. ╮(￣▽￣)╭

Yeah... truth be told, not my cup of tea either. Just read it because I was bored and am out of aristocratic romance stories XD.

I'd rather read a story with the couple working together against an external problem(villains and danger). Not that the external problem helps them work on/resolve the internal problem(relationship issues and miscommunication).

Yeah. That's more along the lines of my preference as well. Some ones I enjoyed/am enjoying are "A Way to Protect the Lovable You", "Seduce the Villain's Father", and "I Became the Hero's Mom".
