Hi, I ended my 3-year long because we were in long-distance for the past 1 year and there was no future so it didn't seem worth the effort. So I stopped making any extra efforts and as soon as I realised it I wanted to break up but I took some time to evaluate my decision. My timing for the break-up was horrible because my bf was going through a v tough time (his grandad passed away and as a recent graduate he is job hunting atm) - but I didn't want to drag things because that would've been unfair too. He says I should have done either way before or waited a little longer.
..So, what I did was wrong?
no, what you did was for your own happiness. yes he was having a hard time but you should always put yourself before others. if you had stayed with him any longer it would have probably caused you more problems instead.
It was good of you to think about the relationship and then act on what u felt. You were unhappy and so u ended things, it just so happens that it was when ur bf was having a very difficult time in his life u can’t change ur feelings. Breaking up will always hurt no matter what, it’s not fun, but seeing how u were in a difficult position I think u weren’t selfish. I think if u were distancing urself from him, he was probably rlly thinking about it and now he’s not wondering y. but u can always lend him an ear if he wants to talk about what he’s going through I think it might make both of u feel better about whats happening/happened. U both will get past this. This is just my opinion and I don’t know everything about ur relationship but I hope ur doing ok.
