brown hair was rejected, and black hair will be endgame. I mean, that's not really a surprise, but he took it well, or as well as he could.
shame, cause out of all the love triangles I've read this had some of the best potential to be poly, with the tops being friends and all.
the raws were up to chapter 81, he was rejected in chapter 69.
then mc's mother has to go to the hospital cause she wasn't feeling well, mc overheard something (didn't translate), and as a result he decided to reject black hair too as to "not be a burden to his mother" but I mean in chapter 80/81 they're fucking again already so I'm sure they'll end up together.
the misunderstanding of the past was also cleared, we get a flashback from black hair's perspective and he was really just not doing well, and was nauseous because of that, he didn't even hear mc confess to him, which is kind of ridiculous but anyway, they very much know the feelings are mutual now.

i love this author, been following them and their works for a long time and one of their other works is literally in my top 10. I love their storytelling, and the way they build the characters.
so when I found out they had a new bl i was really excited, couldn't wait. and yet i just can't seem to like this one.
it feels like it wasn't as thought out as the author's previous works. the characters aren't compelling and they're very one-dimensional, often repetitive and boring, and the storyline feels like it's regressed from their other works, rather than improved with experience.
I don't mind the rape trope, in fact I find it was done quite well in their other bls, it was shown as wrong and the devastating act it is, it was explicitly shown to break and damage the MC the way it should, and it was depicted as horrific and unequivocally bad. more importantly, it was never done by the endgame love interest.
I liked that about those stories, I thought it was handled better than in many other bls where it's romanticised, and I knew to expect it cause it's a constant w this author.
however, in this work, it let me down. it's depicted as a joke, a travesty of the suffering that should follow, almost a game. it's honestly appalling, not because I didn't expect it in a bl, but because I didn't expect it from this author.
the ML is absolutely unlikable and more than that, he's not interesting. he's what a second ML is expected to be. he's not compelling, there's no other side of him, there's no second guessing what he does cause he's too one-dimensional to think about his actions or theorize what they mean. he's just boring and shows absolutely no potential for interesting growth or writing that isn't the same old forgive and forget I've changed cause I'm miraculously in love now.
which is all fine and dandy, but just not what I've become used to, with this particular author.
the MC is not as bad, and I got some hope for him, hut I just really can't recognise the writing in this.

like, the entire point of the manhwa is for them to get together, right? and specifically, to fall in love w e/o, but after everything he's done, i really just don't care if jaekyung falls in love, i don't care if he realizes it, I dont care if he confesses.
its just, it's been 70 chapters and there's been literally no improvement in jaekyung? if anything, he's worse, while kim dan has gone through multiple character arcs. it's just not evenly matched, and it's made me loose interesting in jaekyung cause frankly, he's not a well built character as of right now.
and before yall start acting up and ask why im still reading if I don't like it, it's because I read things i don't like. i read everything, and I think it's still interesting where doc dan is concerned.
it's just, jaekyung being so underdeveloped kinda defeats the whole purpose of the story, because I don't care about half of the main couple, to the point where his chapters annoy me.
you can make a "red flag", asshole character interesting and compelling, and you can make the reader want to know about them even if they piss the reader off, but making them dull, repetitive, and boring? that's the way to kill a story, I think.

I'm sensing that Andrew will use his fame to bring attention to the show and it'll backfire somehow.........all while Derrick will be doing some shit and fucking up the situation even worse, I'm not ready I just want them to be happy and in love smh
