The oG nina was not that known. Only the saint knew her and cared for her(well, until Nina died, the saint basically forgot about nina). So when a priest told the emperor that nina is another saint, and is absorbing the current saint's power, they had to kill one of them. So obviously nina was chosen since no one even knows her
She was just a lowly maid to them. And the priest and nina are siblings, not the saint and nina. Where did u get ur spoilers?? Someone must have gave u the wrong info.

Nina was killed because shes absorbing the current saint's power, who the emperor cares. Not because the saint got in trouble, hell naw. The priest was the one who suggested it, who was also nina's brother. After he found out, he was upset about it. He just killed his own sister lmao. And Nina is actually the true legit saint, thats why shes unconsciously absorbing the saint's power.

I have read some spoiler but i'm not sure enough,
i think is the previous life of OG nina, and the priest suggest that idea 'cause he has feeling for the saintess, the sad is when he found out he killed his own sister, he just feel bad about that nothing more. If i not get wrong, after the OG nina die, saintess and emperorr still get their happy ending together. They trully love each other. Everything just go back normal and fine like nothing much happend, just that OG nina being remembered by others pople as some random child that sacrifed for saintess.

I don't think he just suggested to kill Nina off just because of his "feelings". They killed her because again, she was absorbing the saint's power. Obviously they don't want that. So they just heartlessly killed a lowly maid. And I really don't like the Saint. I actually hate her. Like you ain't no true saint if u just forgot about the maid who was sacrifice for u, and now ur all fine,getting fucked and having fun while she forgot the maid who she ones cared, and also cared for her. She's not dumb but out right refusing the church is a big deal where she's at. In the time set, churches have a HUGE influence in the kingdom! Sometimes even more so than the king! So outright refusing them cld spell more trouble than it's worth. Though I am worried they'll try to suppress her mana one more under the guise of a "baptism"
