Plus, I thought the dress foreshadowed who the ml would be. Otherwise, what's the point of putting it in the story. It's like when that fortuneteller in Avatar told Katara that she'd end up with an amazing bender then her brother just happens to say he's an amazing bender which pushes her from oh, Aang is family to hey, maybe he's the one I marry.
Personally I dislike the trope of them starting as viewing each other as siblings, since they grew up together in mostly the same household- then them becoming romantically involved is just… offputting. Unless the writing is really good or they have a pause seeing each other, the moment they consider their relationship familiar I not supporting anything romantic.

Let me just say. There are a lot of HORRIBLE characters here. But the one I HATE, LOATHE, and ABHOR the MOST is johannes this fucking piece of shit. He’s basically the one who brought Shuli into all of this and because what?? You regret your own actions and miss the woman you love?? He fucking deserves it. I know it’s all for the story but, if only johannes didn’t met her… she wouldn’t suffer through all this. Not to mention the other 2 trashes (the duke n emperor) are just standing by letting her endure all this shit knowing full well the reason she’s suffering is mostly because she looks like their first love. And oh, don’t even mention that sociopathic priest reushtrash or whatever.
