Baekhee is very strong to endure this trauma and still function. The fact that he can even muster the esteem to hope for a better future is a testament to his strength. Continuing to live life in spite of crippling fear of very real danger he’s faced. Having the capacity for kindness and compassion when life has given him little to none is amazing.
Go is actually the weak one. He’s so unstable and greedy that the mere idea his little plaything might actually have a real friend might actually realize that life can be more than survival. That a relationship with another person should be about support and connection and not quid pro quo machination; he’s coming undone at the seams. He’s to arrogant to admit it but Baekhee doesn’t actually need him I think deep down he knows this.
He needs Baekhee because he makes him feel in control of what has probably been a life that been to easy and inconsequential because of his high born life. Baekhee gives him a sense of superior purpose because I don’t think he values himself as much as he likes to pretend to so he manipulates and gaslights to hold on to his facade. He to me is sad and pathetic, Baekhee is heroic in my estimation,
This author is so powerfully gifted in exploreing human trauma and the tenacity of the human spirit to endure and overcome its awe inspiring,
I was unconvinced of Bitchyung before so this is just par for the course. Him not being a overly emotional asshole is not character development…through this whole arc his inner monologue has been selfish and self serving.
Girl really not only did you save him from suicide but you still didnt report him!?!? WHAAAAAAAAAAAT???? Now his crazy ass is gonna confine you again because he thinks your god now. I can’t even be concerned lol the mc has such a profound lack of survival instinct it’s almost impressive
