Geez I thought it was going to being a psychological thriller with a revenge arc…but….what was that?
Hyunjae literally has zero development which is fine for a villain. But he’s treated as the main love interest which is not only fucked up it’s unsatisfying.
It would have been much more compelling for Jung-Hoon to have a revenge arc ending with Hyunjae’s death. As it stands I just feel like I read the author torturing the man for 50 chapters. There were glimmers of him fighting back which felt great and even his mixed/jumbled emotions toward Hyunjae felt somewhat earned. But for him to just succumb to the torture and surrender himself was just sad and infuriating.
Hyunjae is so unlikable, monstrous, and reprehensible is sickening. The author tried make us symp that hiss with his daddy issues but it made me feel nothing. Because he never shows any amount of real suffering from his upbringing and in the present the author writes him like an unstoppable genius so I’m left just feeling fed up.
This story had good bones and the art is nice. Hell if the smut wasn’t 98% rape Itd be A tier but I’m just left really irritated by this.
Won is so freaking crazy and broken. He’s despicable really. Because there no reason he should be this down band and horny over a relatively mundane act of compassion from a child he met one time. He is a monster perpetuating the cycle of abuse he endured.
I don’t agree that the brother is just as bad. He is problematic and dismissive of Jinha but if you look at the full picture that behavior was taught and endorsed by their parents. Does he perpetuate it? Yes—but it doesn’t make him a monster….more of an asshole at worst. Beyond that he’s honestly being manipulated and emotionally/mentally abused by Won. This doesn’t absolve him of then physically assaulting Won but it does heavily contextualize it. To be in love with someone only to realize they’ve be using you as proxy for your kid brother whom you already have a superiority complex toward must be devastating.
Won is the catalyst for all the tragedy in Jinha’s life. Had they not met he likely would have grown up and because distant from his dismissive family and live a life on his own terms. As it stands now he only has one very destructive road ahead of him,
Since when was being jealous over a partner living a life the involves interacting with people cute?
That would be very annoying for someone to be actually jealous because you have friends.
Well, it’s mainly bc he knows what Hyuk's goal is and since he’s the only one by his side, it botheres him that someone is once again getting in the way of his happiness like with his parents.
He did mention that he doesn’t mind him doing anything with anyone, as long as it isn’t Hyuk, since he knows what his objective is
Nah boyo. You are crazy for taking that “sorry” he only said it because you told him to!
Are we living in crazy town? He was about to rape your ass over some relatively speaking mild texts. And thinks he has the right to track your phone without consent. Nope no no.
Crazy how hot I though Heon was, but no longer. Anger rooted in insecurity is so dangerous and a supremely unattractive quality in a person.
He G-O-T T-A G-O
That mofo has got ta go!!!!
My god the writing is so emotionally expressive and human. Relatable in is existential dread, tragic in it miscommunications and missed opportunities, and oh so painfully romantic.
Then some how it manages to still have time for thrilling action, intriguing fantastical occult, and laugh out loud moments; all delivered in their own time.
This is so refreshing to read and at the same time make me look at myself in ways that at time conjures sadness. A truly alluring piece of fiction.
Regardless of the love triangle this is a very well written story. Very layered characters
