I have been observing the yaoi fandom in their natural habitat for so long that i have become like them in order to learn their secrets. I think there are many explanations for why people ship these type of pairings... but understanding it would require expertice in psychology, cultural ideas, sociology and an investigation to prove the different theories... In my case, I don't ship this couple... I think both of them have mental, affective and emotional problems and have become from victims to psychopaths or murder... BUT I do like the manga for the horror and the plot that is very well written and terrifying.
So... maybe other prople like this as an horror/psychological genre (+ the drawing) and not necessarily for the "romance"...
