Spoiler alert!
Actually, they mild it a bit in the manhwa. In the novel, Kael just told Hestia (yes, he's not asking her, he's just telling her that he'll be preventing Diana from being dethroned) then he go to the palace the following day to do just that. That's why it hit Hestia hard.

Yeah.. it didn’t make any sense also. Why does he need to take a position? They said it themselves, it would be an opportunity for Diana to distance herself from the temple and be a “crown princes”. The entire story was around her sticking to her principles, just do the same with the temple. Then her inability to that for some reason means Kael needs to take a position? Why also? The king can also just choose not to bend to the nobles pressure. It’s not like Karl saying it will take power of noble faction or strength to the imperial family.
I hated these chapters in the novel, it is painted like he is doing it for Hess, but I also felt like a betrayal. Also the sex scene where he starts doing it very rough with her no foreplay and in that situation and the novel described as “trying to run from something” feels like he is running from his feelings for Diana. It all felt very off, I was not enjoying it

And how Hess is too understanding there as well. I wish she would have taken a position, she was always such a strong character, and she was clearly deeply hurt and affected by it and he still decided to go through with it. Ach.. it really felt more than “just to protect the imperial family”. I don’t buy it, he was protecting Diana.
Sorry for the long rant I just loved this one so much up till these chapters.. bitter sweet end
THE MC AND DIRECTOR KIM IS SUPPOSED TO BE FELLOW BROTHERS, even the cover of the novel shows them both. Kim Young Hoon is supposed to be handsome young guy too (not as young as MC but not THAT old) He didn't deserve this
Didn't you see him reach rebirth??
