In an event hosted by Florentia where participants hunt monsters, Perez schemed to make Belzach give drugs to Astana, thinking that it was a potion to be immune to the forest's delirium effects. Soon after becoming high from too much intake, Astana attacked the Emperor, resulting to both Astana and Belzach's imprisonment. While in prison, Belzach was almost assassinated by the Empress' hired knight. Perez saved him to help Florentia complete her first task after becoming the Matriarch, which is to get Belzach out of there. Before this happened though, Seral had a change of heart and I think either before or after Belzach was saved, Seral gave Perez a letter that she had deceived from the Empress, it was an order to get more poison for the Emperor's death. This letter was what Perez showed to the Emperor, who is now in his sick bed due to being poisoned, to exposed the Empress' assassination attempt. After that, came the downfall of the Empress and her family, and even Astana.
Basically Perez played everyone and had everyone dancing in the palm of his hand xD
