I agree that the friend could have tried to sound more nice to the uke, but honestly, they are friends for a reason. I'm sure that if the uke didn't liked the dude, he would already cut ties with him, just like he did with ml when he didn't liked the way the things were. The mc is starting to think things over thanks to the same friend, so he did help a little. It's just his personality, and it's not bad just because some random people don't like it.
