The author had to kill off his dad to force us to feel bad for him. Otherwise, he's just a rich kid who raped an unconscious patient. The more I think about it the angrier I get. Family is sooooo important to him but he's willing to bring a child into this world just so he can abandon the child with a father who doesn't want him... That should have been an immediate deal breaker.
