The fact that some people have a problem with the omega being the top is super ironic considering that BL/Yaoi is inherently a subversive/deviant genre (as in it deviates from what is considered the norm in mainstream romance: straight couples). Yet when an author tries to take the concept of omega verse and put a subversive spin on it by making the alpha the bottom and the omega the top, all of the sudden it's an issue?? Everyone can have their preferences but the whining in the comments is too much and completely unwarranted believe it or not, some people don't wanna see the same relationship dynamic copy-pasted onto every manhwa or manga.
I don't really have an issue with an omega top. I just think that they should at least be able to bottom too since omegas are the ones that give birth in the omegaverse afaik.
I don't think the author subverted anything. I actually think it's more common in manhwas that the bigger silent type are the tops while the smaller expressive types are the bottoms.
I don’t hate top omega. The issue is the author tried to make top omega but still put traditional top and bottom dynamics to the story. The top is STILL bigger than the bottom, the top is STILL more dominant than the bottom, the top is STILL stronger than the bottom. What’s the point of having a subversive plot if the execution is gonna be typical? I bought the raws because I thought there was gonna be something different but all I felt like was that it’s a typical BL I’ve been reading and I’m disappointed.

I'm not hating on this manhwa or putting much thought into it as the story is just for light fun entertainment. I am just trying to figure out why there's polarizing reactions in the comments from people defending this manhwa saying it subverts the whole genre to people hating this so much for the omega being a top.
As the reply stated, nothing was really subverted and the relationship dynamic is still the same. The author just reversed the labels omega and alpha and called it revolutionary.
I definitely agree that their dynamic isn't revolutionary. There are still things that could be changed to make it more interesting and subversive, as you've said. But making the alpha the bottom is definitely a start. Also, I've read several comments saying that making the omega the top is "unacceptable." As if we've never heard the term "don't like, don't read??"
