i quite liked wook, he was one of my fave characters here for sure, but then the author had to go and do a whole like... cop thing? and totally ruin his character? it would be completely fine if he was just a cool dude that was also brave and strong with a good moral compass, he could have other motivations like firefighter or dad or idk, but his whole deal is that he's... a cop? and that's why he's brave and strong and has to protect people? god it made me laugh out loud while reading. i don't know much about the police force in south korea, but here in europe, the idea that the police stand for anything but corruption and abuse of power feels pretty disconnected from reality. and in this it's used as a short hand for bravery and shit. and god, don't even get me started on the whole 'maybe humans are the real monsters' convo that was taken up when the criminals showed up. yeah, just dehumanize the prison population, sub-human psychopaths the whole lot of them, huh? never mind that most crime actually originate from poverty, poor infrastructure and classism, not because everyone that's comitted a crime is, you know, inhuman. just like the cop thing, here being a criminal was being used as a short-hand for being a horrible monster of a person, once again not reflecting reality in the slightest. of course when the criminals show up all they want is to kill, steal, rape and lie. let the good, poor police officer that was fired because apparently the police actually care about not hurting citizens (since when?) take care of them! poor wook, police brutality is good and perfectly moral actually!
well rant over. other than some shaky themes and mildly questionable female rep that i'm not gonna get into, it's not a bad manhwa at all. i read it because i was a big fan of bastard a couple years ago, and i quite enjoyed a lot of this story! but this grievance kinda took me out of it. could've been better, but the overall theme of life being worth living was kinda nice. i just wanted to air out some thoughts.
why do people call this beastiality? it's just not. monster fucking is a pretty big genre (more so in western nsfw art circles though i guess?) and this is very obviously that. he's not even a wolf in the sex scene, cause not only is he fully lucid and intelligent still, even speaking normally, he was also humanoid. he was basically a very hairy guy with a wolf head, not an animal. there's a very stark difference between beastiality and monster fucking, and even though some werewolves are depicted as full on wolves, this instance werewolves were depicted as wolf-like humans - monsters. werewolf sex is like, a very common kink, it's about the tamest type of monster you could get into.
maybe monster fucking isn't very common in manga and doujinshi, but yeah, for anyone that doesn't know, that's what's going on here. sincerely: a monster fucker that thinks beastiality is really gross and horrid and doesn't want it confused with monster fucking

i've been here since ch7, for 1.5 years i've been reading this, and i feel like i should be emotionally attached but the ending didn't affect me at all. it felt weirdly rushed, jiwon never really got redeemed, the side characters got forgotten and the whole rings thing just felt kinda... stupid? i mean i had beef with the writing before but it was at least competent most of the time even though it left a lot to be desired. i loved the beginning of this manhwa so much, so i'm just really disappointed that it couldn't keep that momentum going and turned into a half baked mess instead.

yah i agree completely. i remember reading the first few pages and it was SOOOO CRINGYYYY. like i normally don't have a physical cringe-reaction but dear god. everything DG did was sooo embarrassing. his character was the most predictable damsel in distress ive ever seen. it got better as the story progressed but the overall plot didnt and the author didnt manage to make me care about the characters at all. most cliche backstories too. strict parents, bullied in school.. like???? no comment anymore. im done with this manhwa and im glad it ended.

I just want to say that starting from the flashback that presumably starts at chapter 51, only 6 days have gone by. After re-reading it many times, I started to document it, and here's what I've concluded:
Day 1, Fri (ch 51-66)
Day 2, Sat (ch 67-97)
Day 3, Sun
Day 4, Mon (ch 98-114)
Day 5, Tue (ch 115-130)
Day 6, Wed (ch 131-144)
Day 7, Thu (ch 145-) okay, 7 days...
Everything before ch 51 (as well as chapter 68 and the insert art in ch 144, which have been like Christmas specials) takes place in the present, post Jian Yi re-appearing. Ch 50 might possibly be the start of the flashback though, who knows.
Oh well, this is what I've picked up anyway, just wanted to throw it out there. Also, worth to note, the last chapters of Tuesday and Wednesday have been about He Tian and Red Head, which I see as more of a "meanwhile" kind of thing, not necessarily taking place directly after the previous chapter, but just to show their story as well. Maybe a chapter about them will come out at the end of every "day".

Yep, you're right. As Zhan explains in chapter 45, Jian Yi disappeared the second day of High School. My guess is that the very first chapter is the first time Zhan sees Jian Yi since he disappeared. Several years have gone by, possibly around 2-3, perhaps. Zhan's graduated from High School and is either attending or planning to attend a University, seeing as Jian Yi said he wanted to attend the same University as him in chapter 48. Meanwhile, Jian Yi himself has to attend High School because he missed it due to his disappearance (which he explains in chapter 46 was a kidnapping connected to his father, though Zhan doesn't believe him and asks him not to explain further). We can see partially this based on the clothes, as Jian Yi wears the same white shirt coupled with a black jacket as we can see Zhan wearing when he attended High School back in chapter 45 again. Going back to that chapter, Zhan also explains that he and Jian Yi were in the same class in Middle School, that he always let Zhan copy his homework and that they were best friends, which are all things that we've seen in the story since the flashback started. You can also see that they are, since chapter 51 and forward, wearing the same clothes we can see they wore in Middle School in chapter 45.
This all points to the fact that when the story starts from chapter 1 is when Jian Yi reappears after his sudden disappearance a few years back, and we get to see some of their everyday life, until chapter 51 when we are suddenly thrown back into the past, before Jian Yi disappeared and they were still in middle school. Since then, only 7 days have gone by. Well, this is at least how I've gotten the story thus far.
Oh wow, when I start writing there really is no stopping me, I'm sorry... But I hope this cleared some things up, anyway.

I need some seriously bad things to happen to JK. I don't just want blood, i want some serious emotional and career ending damage. I need him to feel every bit of pain that he has put Dan through. He needs some humbling QUICK and not just needing to take a little break from boxing and losing his little plaything i want some REAL bad stuff to happen to him. I'm usually mildly entertained by toxic situations, it's truly not that serious, but this guy makes me so mad i need to see REVENGE enacted it would be so satisfying. But I didn't like how BJ alex got "redeemed" so i'm prolly not gonna like this
I think perhaps with how it's going with JK ignoring his injuries and not treating as he should, I think his career ending earlier than he would like would be something that could happen.
What I think should happen is JK gets really injured, loses a fight and while he doesn't want his career to end, news makes it seem that he has. And while this is happening Dan's still gone, or someone else is pursuing him and Dan's kinda sticking to them. Or maybe Dan grows some balls and just leaves lol.
At that point JK would perhaps realize how little he has, and while trying get Dan back realize how big of a dick he's been.
Though honestly? I wish (becuase this won't happen, it's fucking mingwa and the whole genre really to blame) that Dan would just leave and maybe start living a better life and JK fucks off too, don't care if he gets hurt. Their chemistry is shit, mostly because JK being an ass but also Dan's been written like a soggy piece of toast, sad, miserable and no back bone.

Honestly the biggest reasons why I hate this manwha and get so mad about it is
1. The art is AMAZING, mingwa is very talented, and it is such a shame she writes such bullshit. If she created a thought out and written story that wasn't toxic romantion bs than I would be over the moon.
2. Becuase mingwa is so popular, her works can and have set trends in the BL genre, and I hate that. I don't want more toxic shit like this
3. People read stuff like and it really can fuck with their brains and perceptions. I worry about the normalization and romantizition of toxic relationships and rape. Not that people would like seek out this stuff, but wouldn't have the appropriate reactions to it, aka brush it off, not treat it as seriously as they should and such
