Oh I got a thumbs down? I know Maya is hot but lets not forget that he forced himself to Nemu. All I want is closure. I never seen him say I love you to Nemu. I really hope that Nemu will not get hurt again. It is too painful to see. (╬￣皿￣)

If he's only said it once, and never again. That doesn't really help the situation cause if your partner doesn't reassure you like you do to them then it doesn't feel like it's a mutual relationship.

Well, that’s the Japanese for you. They don’t frequently say “I love you” to their partners like Westerners but prefer to show it through actions instead. In fact you can see this happens in a lot of manga, where the characters get so embarrassed saying “I love you” to their partners that they end up not being able to say it (it’s the same with Maya, I thought it was clear in the manga that he’s too shy to say it and Nemu understands), it’s the same with people irl. You said “That doesn't really help the situation cause if your partner doesn't reassure you like you do to them then it doesn't feel like it's a mutual relationship” but that’s not how the majority of Japanese/Asians (at least the ones living in Asia) think at all. We don’t need our partners to say “I love you” to reassure us, because that’s not our primary way to express our feelings like it is for Westerners, esp. Americans. In a lot of Asian households, parents don’t even say “I love you” to their children (my parents say it like once a year but I have no doubt that they love me very much)

My parents have never said I love you to me or any of my siblings but I get what you mean
