I think "the second couple" is actually the main couple, its just a unique set up.
the first couple helped build and introduce the story and it essentially set it up for the main couple to be introduced.
that being said, both couples were explored and are heavily intertwined with each other plot wise.

well i tried, but after chapter 4 i realized im trying to push my way through
and im not actually enjoying the story so im dropping.
i like the concept, but the characters and plot are just not very engaging and its just kind of dry.
also im very uncomfortable with the fact the the angel has a childs body because it was clearly a conscious choice by the author that was unnecessary for the plot...its just nasty

would have been an interesting read if it had time to actually develop. (love "the truman show" theme going on here, too bad it was wasted)
the pacing was way too fast not giving any time for chemistry to be built with any of the characters and a lot of plot holes too...
how did that green eye guy know there was a 5th passage that no one els knew about lol
why was the "evidence" randomly on the wall, how did that guy randomly show up just in time.
and organs from dead people wouldn't even be good anymore...
the sequence of events was just too ridiculous and there was no build up it just all happens like a slid show lol
all and all, cool story concept and i think the character design was striking, but the backgrounds/landscape was horrendous

im so disappointed...this story clearly had so much potential
i love the art style and it had an interesting premise, but...
the main characters werent actually interesting and needed to be fleshed out more.
the story quickly became a drag that i had to force my way through since it was a character focused plot (and the characters were boring)
i also felt that the chemistry between the two main characters was poorly written and showcased.
i thought this was yuri, i should have read the tags
well there is girl on girl for a few chapters but confusing wigrun for a woman is something i’m all too familiar with
