i feel like the writer taking this route for their story has essentially doomed the story because if Ian becomes Brian then it ruins Ian's internal conflict in season one and shows that Ian does not matter.
however, if they don't do that then that means they wasted everyone's time with a whole season of about 50 chapters on the flashback when they could have only done flashbacks when the information is necessary for the audience.
Not only that but this flashback has essentially ruined the pacing as actual plot came to a complete stop meaning that there has been NO STORY PROGRESS FOR A YEAR. i'm not complaining because i hate the flashback because i think as its own story its interesting but in the actual context of season one and the actual plot occurring present-day, this actively hurts the story
I agree completely. I also want to add that it means we'll always be looking at Sol as if he's seeing Brian, not Ian so in essence it'll never feel like a romance bewteen two people just one person in love with his (for lack of better terms) dead lover. This past (and pacing) really did hurt the story in multiple ways.
he sees the tape and asks if he's turning on music despite saying that he can only see the shapes of things so the fact that he immediately knew what the items were is suspicious and implies that he is lying about his eyesight. especially when you consider doha only took out the tape once he was at the cassette so he would have never had the chance to see it beforehand
if his eyesight is actually not bad, then that implies that he was at some point in the room before and knew that there was a cassette where doha which would mean he has memories of a past game. so either he is lying about his eyesight or he has minor memories of the games (maybe not about the murderer since he was going to be killed but parts of the past games like him being in the house)
Exactly plus it's hella dark and the lights are off so even if his eyes adjusted to the lighting if his eyesight was really bad his first question would "hey what are you doing over there?" Not what he previusly said.
If he also has no memories of the previous games but his personality is the disposition of liar it means that Doha will likely lure him into situation where he will be forced into using cassette tape and then manipulated into turning against the one guy who's always at Bada's throat with accusations. The guy who is constantly calling him weird and suspecting him of doing crazy shit despite not knowing him that well.
i honestly love how the series' handles her relationship with the emperor as she decides to go back to her birth family and live with them as she is unable to truly figure the emperor for everything he put her through so she only keeps in contact with him through letters and makes it obvious that her relationship with him could end if he makes any wrong moves.
honestly recommend reading the book instead as it really helped me understand what was going on and I enjoy it much more.
