The Holy Church didn't really care about the king. (it's why the priest said the king or linley) They only cared at the fact that which one of them can benefit them. in the book the church would let Linley kill king (they were replaceable) if it were not the fact that Linley's mother was killed by the church. Since Linley's motive was to take down the church- that's another story.

I'm not sure either. besides from Tomoe, Nanami is "something" to Akura-Ou. She seems to disrupt Akura's thoughts just like Tomoe. Nanami's effect on Tomoe when they first met (time travel) is the same with Akura-Ou. Special girl
He loves Tomoe in his own twisted way but I think he is falling for her, she is the only female he seemed to have notice and didn't kill. Referring to when she traveled to the past, he opened her can of peaches(instead of slaughtering her with his claws) and asked her to show him around town. (Saw her as person instead of insect.) Appeared more like a date enjoying the festival together, talking casually, him taking her to a high view and helping her get down unharmed. Killing people and protecting her, although she was horrified. Saying farewell leaving her alive. All unlike him. Even when he stole her energy to survive he left her alive, he even wantes an explanation when hearing her end was near. So he cares for her on some level, not sure if it's love but he's surely aware of her existence.
Yeah, he actually wants to feel close to someone, but because he's so powerful he's not able to relate, but he seems to develop some level of interest in her in the past. And now, experiencing weakness he's become more open to that kind of feeling... He worries about her, even though he's not used to that kind of feelings and for that reason he rejects them.
Also, it appears that he didn't know he was taking her life-force and the effect it would have on her, he just felt something that got him better and pulled. He'll probably feel bad if he knows he's the reason she's near death.
Yeah I agree partially, before being human he only cared about Tomoe that's the only person he acknowledged and wanted to be close to. Since he's immortal and can't comprehend emotions he doesnt really seem to think or seek for companionship. True he doesn't understand these new feelings blooming inside of him, why or how her words and thinking of her effects him. No I am pretty sure he knew he was draining her life force, he is selfish after all. He knew he left her alive but he probably wasn't aware that human God's don't regenerate like he was cabable to as a demon.
If he's that into her, that'll surely mean Nanami will have to die to get him to change for the better, and then be revived somehow...
