I think it's more to do with all the plot lines going on.
First there's the fact that Yunshen is a male empty man. The mythos of an empty man is complex enough but Yunshen has powers that he shouldn't have where complicates things.
Then there's the matter of the kids and the fact that the Mu family (Yunshen's own family) wishes to possess them and Yunshen at all cost. One twin has a long lost ability no one hss seen in over a century.
The world is a technologically advance world where people occupy multiple planets but magic also exists and it's pretty important.
What's with that cat that gaurds the demon gate? What's with the gate on a whole?
There's the power struggle going on between psionic families that are struggling to pass on their powers to their offsprings.
There's Yunshen and Trolese working to co-parent and possibly forming a relationship in thr future.
There's that potion Yushen wishes to distribute that will change the world and shift the powers. Also he wants a mercenary company filled with magical mercenary.
And now there's a rivalry.
And I'm probably missing a few other points.
It seems like the plot can only progress by making the world more convoluted with each chapter. Atm a character arc would be good as there's enough world building to work with.
I still plan on reading because I'm not turned off yet but between this manhua and others I've dropped I can see why Chinese manhuas have such a negative reputation.
Considering all tthr ground breaking stuff going in the story, everyone's response has been luke warm. Yunshen has a potion that can basically overturn society and the status quo and no one is questioning if he should use it or not.
even if all these things are going on, I think they are still all linked (and well, we know manhuas loves dramas ), for the demon gate plot i think it will be explained in later chapter and finally for the potion, nobody is questionning it bc everybody loves power no? nobody will refuse it, even if we do not know where it comes (and they trust yunshen)
