the art was fantastic, and i loved the idea. as an adult in a healthy relationship who enjoys reading BL, though, it was very distracting and disappointing that the main characters were quite selfish, abusive, and toxic. its an unfortunate characteristic of the BL/yaoi genre that abuse and toxicity is fetishized and romanticized (especially since SO many BL/yaoi readers are young or started young, like myself), and this was definitely representative of that. it did not feel like the toxicity was appropriately shunned or punished bc lowkey it worked out for the terrible people..? so we're cool with this? just a disappointing direction for a story that had everything it needed to succeed
It felt like at the start she was going to start training again. how come she can ride a horse and do much more strenuous stuff, but she hasnt tried picking up a sword again? i hate that the author is intentionally keeping her weak
