How is the mc considered a good police officer?? The amount of times he's talked about the undercover operation - on the phone (which could be bugged), in the bathroom (maybe bugged, someone inside, someone outside the door), to the damn prosecutioner (after being told the dude's sus). It frustrates me to no end.
The author did all that buildup at the start: investigating solo, because no one else will... and then was all, righto you've met the ML, competent (ish) policework is over.
However, I will admit that she got dealt a somewhat useless reincarnation hand. Memories of being in hospital? (yep), memories of this new world she's in? (nope).
Also her family kinda suck.
But! She's doing her utmost best now: Travel to another empire (and it doesn't appear anyone from her kingdom went with her). Study hard to learn how to use her gift (+ ch4 is complete on MDX). Help people with her powers (on the battlefield!). That's impressive for someone who never left the palace / was looked down upon for existing.
Her cousin is such a self centred, arrogant jerk. "It appears you've told her nothing". Dude. The only information they had was what you gave them. And even then then the ML wasn't 100% certain hence why they were meeting up! Arrrgh.
Also his under-his-breath muttering: so thin, I would do a better job. .. you complete asshole. You knew she was being abused and you did zilch to help her. You can fuck off.
6 chapters in and I absolutely hate the ML. Let's see..
"You are much too sensitive" - You threatened her in a forest, you tried to lift up her skirt/grab her leg.
Asks her to dance. She declines. Ignores that and asks again. (Me: Oh is this going to be a sweet scene where he holds her up so she doesn't to put weight on that leg?) ... no it leads into:
Takes away her cane. Forces her to walk on her injured leg (she's shaking/in pain) all the way outside into the gardens.
'I gave you and your sister access to the hottest ball of the season' -- is apparently an equal reward to housing an entire army from an enemy army.
'Why are you begging me on your knees like that, what's changed?' -- 3 years you twat. Also being in a position of power? You're a goddamn duke. She's a viscount family (that's 4 levels below you). Her family is in crushing debt. One word from you and you could destroy them utterly. .. and yet you're saying it's her fault.
I hate him. And I hate the fact that she's going to fall in love with him in the future completely ignoring his past actions.
I'm glad the chapter got removed considereding the comments.. but I'm also sad because I want a new chapter!
