Why is Japanese food always so much better, it even looks healthier. Lol just me anyone?

It's not racism it's uneducation. Instead of letting them know what it is y'all just called them rude and racist. It's not racist to not know and be uneducated. We all know at the very least the american scholl system is whitewashed as fuck. Of course they wouldn't know. Next time educate them first and if they try to get defensive like "Of whatever, fuck you" that's when you call them racist. Remember, just like racism is learnt, tolerance is too.

Commenting that one culture's food is better than other cultures and then talking about how it's healthier than other cultures' food is racist. There is no scientific proof that Japanese food is healthier for you than any other cultures. They, too, have foods that are full of processed sugar and high in fat and carbohydrates that should not be eaten in excess. Since this is a Korean manhwa, we'll talk about Korean cuisine. Korean food has healthy and unhealthy foods as well. Just because you may not like the taste of Korean food and like Japanese food better, you cannot go around saying Japanese food is healthier and Korean food is not. That is slander, racism, and absolutely not true. Not to mention, food is a very important part of East Asian cultures. Insulting our food is insulting a part of how we live our lives.
I don't like eating Indian food because I'm not much of a spicy food eater. I don't like certain western dishes as well because there'a a lot of butter, cheese, and garlic involved. But I don't go around saying Chinese food or Japanese food is better than Western/Indian food. Because that would be wrong and racist.
There is no reading between the lines. The comment was simply inconsiderate and racist. Defending racist comments makes you a part of the problem. Sit your ass down and learn before you open your mouth. Ain't no one gonna call you stupid for not speaking.

They are not specifically saying that they hate everything else besides Japanese food and that they are never willing to eat any food that isn't Japanese cuisine. And in their opinion it seems like they prefer Japanese food over other foods, just like how you prefer a type of cuisine over another. Their impression of Japanese food was that it is healthy when of course it's not always, but we could've explained to them how that many not be true. They could've worded their opinion differently but it is clear what they had meant when expressing their opinion. I do not see them saying anything that makes them racist, like if they were to say "I think Vietnamese food is disgusting," that would be another story, because they are specifically eliminating a whole variety of foods that belong to a culture.

Uhm...
Pretty sure that OP just mistook/miswrote it as Japanese food, when they meant Korean food.
It was not meant as a criticism of Korean food, but of Western food.
-> that compared to Western food, OP thought the food pic at the end of this chapter looked better and healthier than what they usually eat.
It was an uneducated comment, not a racist one.
Correct me if I'm wrong, OP.

How did this get so crazy omg They didn't mean it like that and on top of that they apologized. It may have been ignorant and rude but it wasn't racist bc that would imply they had the intent to discriminate and antagonize, which was not the case. Can't we just chill and read the story? Like damn some of y'all are really hyped up.

I can't either bc this whole argument is just ridiculous. just explain your opinion RESPECTFULLY if you're offended and if you agree, simply do so. (this isn't directed towards you btw). It shouldn't even be an argument bc they were just talking abt food. These ppl are treating food like it's politics.

even if they got the culture where the food is from wrong. you could have just corrected them nicely instead of attacking lol not everyone recognizes the differences, and by the logic you are presenting if you can't tell all european countries' cuisine apart you are racist. or middle eastern cuisine. but that's not how that works now is it?

Tbh I understood it more as East Asian cultures being healthier than western world cultures which I agree to. Idk if the original comment was confused between Korean and Japanese food. Wouldn't be surprised since I see comments all the time confusing manhwas with mangas and vice versa. Regardless of the intentions of the original comment, I understand what you're saying and you have every right to be upset. I'm sorry.

Please don't let others and their buzzword slinging idiocy keep you from stating your opinions, my dear. These people are the problem, not you getting the origin of food right.
Racism has literally nothing to do with what happened in this thread, so you have nothing to worry or apologize for. Ignorance (in this case about the origin of an object) does not equal racism.
Don't let this toxic type of mindset cripple your human interactions. It's unhealthy to say the least.
And everybody can state their opinions or share thoughts. If those things happen to be uneducated or based on false knowledge there is the option of educating that person instead of being rude and judgemental about it (you know, like a normal human adult would do: talk and explain instead of insulting).
You have done nothing wrong here. Getting things wrong happens. And not knowing the origin of food isn't something bad either, certainly not racist or rude.

Noo don't stop sharing your opinions, you did nothing wrong, just some people that accused you of racism, it happened to me too the other day being told I was racist just bcs I said (with pure honesty with no under meaning) that leopards are exotic animals. Long story short people accused me the same while others helped me knowing that I didn't phrase it right instead of callin me racist.
(Lmao I'm speaking more about me here-)
The point is don't let others pressure u, continue commenting what u want, the ppl who made those rude remarks (If I may say so) probably had a bad day or smth else or their mindset probably bursted and took it on you, humans are not perfect THEY CAN'T KNOW EVERYTHING FROM DNA TO FOOD CULTURE TO THE MINIMAL DETAILS so rest assured dear :)
This just turned into a chain of debates, we're not on place to judge ppl from just what they write (unless you know how to read minds ur free to do whatever)

I'm sorry that person reacted the way they did, it was very excessive and they could have asked you to clarify what you meant instead of getting so worked up and assuming something deeper about what you said :/ you have a completely fair point, both japanese and Korean food often look better and healthier than western food (imo) but then again they've got their fried and fatty food fixes too haha (like chimaek, hotteok, and okonomiyaki ). Often more veggies included tho. And usually colorized stories are either Korean or Chinese tho, and most of more popular ones seem to be Korean these days. I hope you get a chance to try lots more Korean and Japanese food in the future!! ^^ and have a lovely day! ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~

I dont know if u live in America but we are a western country with some of the highest obestiy levels worldwide. Alot of our people dont eat healthy and if you look up the obesity map on https://obesity.procon.org/global-obesity-levels/
I had to look up korea separate but its still pretty liw and china and japan are both placed after 130 while america is in the 12 and canada is 26.

Why is everyone getting triggered just because OP said that Japanese food looks better? You're seriously going to get mad? Oh shit, look I have a preference when it comes to food, I must be racist. Stop finding things to be triggered about when it's not even racist, it's just food preference. Some of you are dumb af and it shows ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

Bruh you're dumb af. It's food preference, not like OP is saying Japanese people are superior or some shit. Honestly you're just looking to get triggered.
I can look at a food and say if it looks healthy or unhealthy, doesn't mean I'm attacking someone's culture. Clearly OP isn't attacking someone's culture.
Why don't you sit your ass down and stop trying to downplay the meaning of racism. Imma call you stupid for speaking up and you say stupid shit. Fucking unbelievable that you just pick and choose when to be offended.

I'm Puerto Rican and I get mad when ppl think I'm Mexican. Hell, I got mad when someone assumed tortillas were part of my culture. Mixing up Japanese and Korean cultures is definitely offensive even if it was done innocently. Racism is fueled by ignorance after all. Is like how some people assume all Latinos are Mexican or all East Asians are Chinese. Doesn't matter if you don't agree with how the person reacted or how they expressed themselves. They had the right to be offended. Ganging up on a person doesn't really help especially if you're not trying to reason where they're coming from.

And ya gotta admit that making a pro Japanese cuisine statement when the chapter was discussing Korean cuisine can rub someone the wrong way. I know the OP meant mixed up the two cultures but if you didn't see that it would be kinda like if you're in a Korea appreciation event and then someone's like "yeah, well the Japanese have real good food". Feels like trying to put the other culture down .

I get what you mean by the confusing one culture with the other, but the way they reacted was unwarranted. It's hard to say we "ganged up" on them when said "victim" was attacking someone else. They met innocent ignorance with straight up disrespect, so of course the result isn't gonna be pretty. It was obvious the person who originally made the comment wasn't trying to be rude (although some felt they were) so they could've just cleared the air calmly instead of thrashing through everything like this person just came after them. We're not saying they don't have the right to be offended, it's just ways you deal with others and the way they decided to deal with nyxlife was aggressive. nyxlife already apologized from the beginning but they continued to get upset and be rude instead of courteously voicing their opinion. [If you disagree, then disagree. No one will mind if you disagree as long as it's with respect.]<-That's the point of this crazy argument.

And I understand this too. I agree. But I don't think this person knew this story was Korean in the first place. If you're thinking of it as an event, then they walked in not clearly knowing what the event is about. And then again, you can still calmly clear the misunderstanding instead of getting verbally violent.

I understand what you're saying but I don't think I or anyone has the right to tell others how offended to feel. Just because I react with composure doesn't mean that everyone will or that I should expect them to. The person is entitled to their feelings. I respect your opinion though and I don't think its wrong. This is just how I feel.
And I say ganging up on because it does seem like some people are commenting things along the lines "wym racist" and not understanding that there was a misunderstanding here.

Exactly exactly I absolutely get that not everyone can be calm. But to add on to what I was saying, actions have consequences. Or maybe what I'm trying to say is their negative reaction can be met with negative reaction? Yea I think that's what I'm trying to say. They can feel offended but it's all about how you come off to people, it's the vibes. Like me having a conversation with you rn, we're calm. The person who felt the same way but came off as aggressive only received more aggressive reactions. Then again, everything is situational so I'm not saying this applies to every single time someone acts aggressive since there's too many possibilities.

This entire thread is basically the picture perfect example of people feeling like others are out to get them / taking things personal even tho they are not.
It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.
To sum it up, the logic of the outraged is as follows:
- If you say you like blond hair, you're clearly racist towards black people (because they only have dark hair). (This is in regards to the ridiculous statement of "saying one culture is better, is like saying another is bad!" - like it or not, some cultures HAVE better things, especially in the healthy food section.)
- If it's not said in favor of what I like, then it's obviously meant as an insult. *takes out pitchfork and torch* (Seriously, just because someone got the origin of an object wrong does NOT mean they are racist (look up what racism is, then you might understand it does not apply to this specific situation))
I really wish people would stop seeing the world in black and white (not the skin-colour terms, the COLOUR terms as a basic, ain't that funny?). There are things inbetween. So no, just because you are offended by something does not mean you can label someone a racist simply because what they said has to do with some part of a culture (which is for some reason always immediately connected to the skin colour of the people of said culture).
Ignorance/lack of specific knowledge does NOT equal racism, especially in these scenarios (me not knowing the origin of a car company doesn't mean I'm racist towards the people of that country, this is the dumbest thing I have heard in ages..). Even if you would like it to be something so severe, it is not. That's simply how things are (but since so many people on this website/the internet don't know the meaning of half the buzzwords they use, someone will probably throw a hissy fit at that statement).
People should stop turning innocent comments into a self-made witch hunt just because they want to find something to be outraged at.
Not everyone is out to get you, so stop reading so much into a simple sentence. It's not healthy for you and it's quite frankly very obnoxious to others. There is no reason to escalate these simple things, unless you are really THAT bored or feel offended by the most simple, innocent and outright unimportant things.
Let me just leave you with a question: Aren't you, as the offended one by such a simple sentence, the problem here instead of OP?
Because it needs a 'they-are-out-to-get-me' and racism-infested mindset to scream racist at such a simple thing. And THAT is much more of a problem to me than OP getting the origin of food wrong.
Just some food for thought.

What are you even talking about?? That person literally just said the food looks good. It is a personal preference. You said you don't like Indian food cuz its spicy. I'm Indian. So should I be all offended and descend my wrath upon you? I can also say that not all Indian food is spicy and we don't chug chillies cuz we r not mental. As I said, its a personal preference. Why do u people think everyone is out to get you.
im gonna rage. not ending on a cliffhanger really man. i so am gonna rage rn. plus wtf with the idea of kidnapping tf? im gonna rage and curse this imaginary family and rage and just aaaaaaa!!!! im so mad (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸 (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸
