Dan rejects JK and JK pesters him like the little BITCH he is. He enrols into Dan’s hospital as a patient so Dan would have to treat him. Dan acts cold and distant with JK at first, then JK starts to form a bond with Dan’s granny, which makes him warm up to JK a little again.
There’s a theory that JK actually wanted to be a swimmer instead of a boxer, if you look back into his previous likes/dislikes bio. JK starts to get accustomed to life at a small town without the pressure of being a MMA champion. He also starts to swim more often, with the town they’re at being a beach town.
He and Dan start to form an awkward but genuine bond. JK starts to develop feelings for Dan while Dan remains wary and cold. This is where we get some insights on why JK is such a stupid POS. JK discovers he is a dog person?
A second ML appears (maybe one of Dan’s old friends or classmates) and gets close to Dan. Dan is much friendlier to him than to JK. JK feels jealous and confused. Granny finally passes away, and Dan is broken. JK with his limited capacity for empathy tries his best to console Dan but angers Dan in the process (probably says some dumb shit like he always does out of jealously too). Dan finally has enough of JK and leaves Korea with 2nd ML for a job opportunity. 2nd ML pays of Dan’s debt to JK??
JK is truly devastated and broken by Dan leaving this time round, cuz he realised how wrong he’s done Dan. He searches everywhere but Dan is nowhere to be found.
Insert time skip, a few years later.
JK has done some MAJOR character development by going to therapy and living away from the spotlight. He adopts one of the puppies Dan was taking care of. JK has changed into a better man and deeply regrets the shit he did to Dan, but has given up hope on being with him. He now lives a quiet life perhaps as a swimming coach/life guard in Seoul?
JK’s world is shaken when Dan returns, now rather successful and established. This is where their love story truly begins. JK seeks forgiveness and redemption while Dan rediscovers love and trust for JK.
In my opinion, the only way to truly showcase a redeemed JK would be through a timeskip. JK begging wouldn’t be enough for me, I want to see them really fall in love and develop a bond.
No matter what, I just wanna see our baby boy Dan be happy and healthy
