I am wanting to see things that are both unique and not overused but at the same time, I want to see what other's opinions are when it comes to very OVERUSED cliches when it comes to the BL genre things that need to just be cut out entirely from ever being used in future.
WORST: omegaverse. Usually badly done just an excuse for lukewarm "angst" without actually taking the time to actually look deeper into the topic. Has a lot of slut shaming in it for no reason.
BEST: Switching roles or more masculine bottoms tbh. More realistic and less cliche when the characters don't fit into the obligatory "fragile UkE" and "EvIl SeMe" boxes. Just my opinion thoo :]
Worst: blackmail. Usually very rape-y, and it makes no sense when it's over the smallest things. Also, there's no justice or fairness, and it's unbelievable that any real relationship would stem from that. another bad one is when the main seme is trash and the second male lead is the way better option but the uke picks the main seme. Best: hate to love. childhood friends with the exception that I don't like when one character has a whole revelation that they knew the other one in the past.

I feel like with the omegaverse cliche is just giving the author a reason to give the uke female stereotypes and that results in a lot of the slut-shaming we see in omegaverse mangas. I really don't even consider omegaverse cliches to be really BL...

True a lot of omegaverse has tons of thinly veiled misogyny. I know Japan is very conservative so maybe that's why but I can't imagine why it's so popular if the target demographic for BL is females ヽ(`Д´)ノ
the worst is the cliche'd readers who cut up the authors, every one of which is the best of the best, who work their asses off, who will even take to heart the fan's requests, and who don't deserve it. happens all the time. go figure.

I agree with what you wrote as the worst and I think that is one thing that really needs to phase out of BL in general. It makes things very distasteful. I know it is done to establish roles in the relationship but I feel that there are better ways to do it instead of making it rapey.

who the hell are you to say what should be "phased out?" It's totally up to the artists what they want to express. You don't get a say.

You will have to excuse me but I will not be expecting you to understand the implications of fetishizing rape. What I post is an opinion and nothing else. It is up to the author to write how they want but if their fan base starts to express disfavour at the thought of semi-rape scenes then yeah they would have to eventually change their style to continue to be profitable.
There is quite a growing concern amongst fans of BL when it comes to the fetishizing of rape between the couples. It happens is almost all romance genres and it is can really ruin the story. It isn't about, "Just don't read it," it's about the fact that it is such a regular standard amongst authors that is the major concern. There are better ways to develop roles between the two mains instead of enacting extreme dom and sub roles to the point of near encroachment of rape.

This. You put into words what I've been feeling for so long when it comes to the whole "black-mail" plot lines. The whole "role" aspect of BL as a concept can go down very toxic roads. I wish authors wouldn't be so pressured either by fans, companies, and cliches to be so quick do try to establish a lot of times toxic hierarchies in order to differentiate bottoms and tops.
Title is pretty self-explanatory.

Don't feed them, just ignore since their comment has zero relevance to the topic.
how does that relate please? I really don't know why you said this. thanks
defensive, aren't you?

they're allowed to have an opinion so chill out.

That's all I am going to say on this.
