you read a book a long time ago, and you've already forgotten almost everything about that book except for that one scene that would randomly flash your mind when you least expected it? like a fragment of a memory that you can't fully piece together yet still feels so vivid. that scene that stuck on your mind not because of the details, but because......   reply

for stories in general (cuz I'm reading like a lot of novels now, too), it's when they introduce a character then all of a sudden casts them aside, as if they never at all existed. I think this happens when the author introduces characters as plot devices rather than an actual people. like in a manhwa for example, they'd dedicate an entire chapter ......   reply

I love both, but I must say I love manga more. manhwas are nice, true. those colored illustrations of characters and places that fill my entire phone screen sometimes? too pretty—I can't help but take a screenshot. but I love how manga narrates the story with such detail, where even the slightest difference in shading or the size of a panel shows......   reply

about question
while I never really cared about the gender of the author of the story I'm reading, I can't help but notice the differences in how male and female authors tend to approach character dynamics and storytelling, particularly in how they portray side characters and relationships. here's what I've noticed:

male authors tend to hint at romantic interest whether in the beginning or later in the story; strong male characters are either an enemy or rival for the protagonist; protagonist can have strong comrades but never stronger than him; comedy between the main character and his main sidekick is topnotch (they tend to bicker all the time, but together they strong af)

female authors on the other hand if their main character isn't at all interested in romance, they'd be dense af; main character is surrounded by strong characters who want to protect him regardless of age or gender; if a ridiculously strong side character with remarkable character description/appearance appears, they'll be a part of the main character's gang; and uhm the queerbaiting?

that being said, I like both styles. as long as it doesn't trivialize sensitive topics, I enjoy them— although I still can't handle romance subplots in this genre. plus, I haven't read that much action manhwas, these are just observations from a couple of which I've read so far. so basically, this is just me yapping, 'cuz I just can't help but notice the pattern. (and I just saw the mc dance with a strong handsome male side character who screams 'boyfriend' (he's the one with chain skill) in my bl encyclopedia during a battle, yk).
