I guess (and no its not emperor and the female knigt).The story was that the mc before she got reincarnated she was once a battle hardened soldier. She was betrayed by her allies and was killed. I think they were highschool students and they are a reincarnation of some warriors or prince (idk something along that line). The main guy promised to be with the girl he loves then he died and reincarnated in the modern world. Then he found out the reincarnation form of the girl is a guy. Long story short the main guy ended up with his friend (a girl) which was a reincarnation of his old friend (a guy). Its not yaoi or shounen ai.
