Well porn industry is one of the most toxic environments to work in, firstly because of some shady companies that treat their workers/actors as things instead of human beings, maybe the autor wants to portray the real harmful effects of porn.
Many real life porn stars have been open about how being on that industry has damage their lives and relations.
