Binged it in a day, but I really wish she had separated from Ruve even though he changed. I think it would have been more satisfying for me as a reader to see her confidently take on the role of a knight. My favorite scene was when she ran into the fire in the Emperor's garden and commanded those servants as her own. No one got injured when trying to protect her, she took out her sword and cut her flaming dress to protect herself. I sort of wish I could have seen her act more knightly I suppose, protecting those she loves rather than being protected by them. I'm always desperately searching for female leads who guide the story and do not let surrounding events guide them. Her name is pioneer after all. She carves her own fate. To me though, it still feels like she her fate was made by those around her rather than herself.
The professor's rut line unnecessarily had me kicking my feet oml. He's so sly and intentional.
