i get that he wants to protect her, and it does seem more like he is being over protective and avoiding her to keep her away from danger, but i don't think that is a good excuse for how he is acting. at the end of the day him being over protective is just another way of saying "i dont think you can handle this" which is really insulting. Instead of teaching her to get stronger he just tried to wrap her in bubble wrap. The 'for your own good' excuse has always been a terrible one in my book.
