Based in my own understanding:
Erun got his revenge on that librarian guy by scamming and stealing all his money and martial skills because Erun is a VIP and he could damage him anytime.
The bamboo people are those people from the past timeline. Those guys were chasing the other guy for ten years that they even gave rewards to those who can help them.
Erun gave them a clue to catch the criminal guy by having a trade first with that criminal guy and reporting it to the bamboo guys.
The sister shouldn't actually involved with that because she didn't asked permission to their father and go own her way to earn money. She is earning money so that if she reached the proper age to move out of the family she will continue being a merchant since she has talent for marketing that's why even the father knew what she was doing he just let her.
The company benefited from her talents and family name.

Here’s what I think! Idk if anyone else came to the same conclusion.
And no I did not read any spoilers, this is what I just concluded from the ML’s flash back and something the FL’s dad thought.
So in chapter 12(?) the ML was inside and he heard someone asking “where is he?”.
Then he heard screams and he went out and saw the FL dad pull the sword out of his dad.
I think the parents died not giving the location of the FL dad since they were friends and when he found out he felt so guilty he never explained it to the ML and let him kill him in the original ending because he thought he deserved it.
That part I gathered from his thought of failing to protect someone, and it showed a couple’s silhouette.
The real killers are probably a “good” sect killing in the name of justice.
Or they’re some small time crooks that were already wiped out by the FL dad.
Could totally go either way.
