I'm all for hating on a story but to contact an author just to hate on their work is a bit much especially if you read it on a pirate site.

Writing a story does not mean an author approves of negative things. A writer might write a small story about a woman being with an abusing husband and not leaving him. That doesn't mean that author is pro abuse, maybe they want to show the mental struggles and gaslighting a woman suffers in an abusive relationship. And here maybe the author though that if you act bad in a lifetime it will get you 9 lifetimes of suffering and one lifetime of accepting your victim to act bad towards you to get even. Here we have a totally fantastic scenario (we don't know if reincarnation is real, how it works if it exists) so the frame of the story is a bit fluid (on the realistic matter of spouse abuse things are black and white, it is a real issue). It is food for thought though.
