I LOVE this manga. God it's so cute. This chapter for some reason has touched me the most so far. I felt so bad for the Phoenix whom everyone always abused and took from, for him to finally find someone who is selfless and caring.....Gah I was crying when he was moved as Salphie jumped after him. ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ

I know the whole thing just was horrible. Moblet dying like that for her, Levi having to honor Erwin's decision to let him die. It was just a miserable read.
I can honestly say this is one manga I will never read till the end. No I don't hate Armin, why should I, he didn't do anything and if he could have talked or moved he would have said to save Erwin just as Erwin said to save Armin. However.....I have lost my two favorite characters out of the whole series and my last fav I don't want to see Levi suffer anymore. Jesus he's lost EVERYONE! I mean yeah it was bad with Eren's mom and all but he still has his dearest ones around him. Levi just lost the last person he cared about as much as those two dumb kids. So Nope i'm done. Will make myself happy with doujinshi and fanfics. ╥﹏╥

He hasn't lost completely everyone, he still has hanji, eren, mikasa, and Armin. I understand where you're getting at though. However, read this manga for what it is. It isn't supposed to be a romance manga, its for action and shounen. Yes I do ship two characters (eren x mikasa), but I know it won't ever happen because this is a hardcore shounen. Don't leave because Erwin died. Even if Armin wasn't chosen, I still wouldn't drop this manga. Sure I'd feel a little sad because of erens attachment, but I do feel bad for Levi.

Same here I love other charaters but Levi is my sexy guy. If he gets killed than I might stop reading. But sticking with it this long I must me a M too...Same goes for TG too many tears.
Problem is though it's not the same attachment. Sure he cares about those kids and even Hanji BUT Erwin was the man he eventually looked up to and followed his orders without question. Erwin was no different to him than Farlan and Isabel. He had a special place in his heart for those three and to lose Erwin was like losing them all over again. I'm not saying he wouldn't hurt if the others died he would like all the soldiers but this man has went through hell himself following Erwin and doing his bidding because he believed in him and trusted him completely, for him to die....would leave a large hole in him.

What, you think those of us who read this can't love Erwin AND Armin, both? And be upset if EITHER one died? I didn't want either to die and was hoping the'd be able to divide Bertie and the serum somehow. But when the author laid out the "why," he's right. This was the right decision for the future and for Erwin (he had suffered and worked enough in the cause and should be let go). That you think this makes the manga not worth reading anymore, yeah, so dont' read it. From the starting chapters, we knew people we liked were gonna die. And they have. I'm still pissed about Marco and Petra. And yet it fits the story. And Levi may end up dying, and I'll hate that a lot.
And I'm really sorry about sounding bitchy. I had just read the chapter and it felt as if those of us wanting Armin to read were somehow minimizing Erwin. I guess I took that a bit personally, as I wanted both to survive. :(

Yep, they would. I would. :D A little apeshit. But this story was set up with 3 principals. If there are gonna be deaths, dramatically, you don't kill off your three principals--at least not until they're missions and lives are in some sense completed. Erwin pretty much completed his--he found who he needed to carry on. Levi has found new people to serve and protect. And Erwin died flanked by people who cared about him and didn't want him to suffer. It's actually a beautiful tragic moment.
No,,, i don't think erwin completes his role. But duh this manga filled with people with their unfulfilled dreams.
I wasn't saying anything about people that love both Erwin AND Armin can't still be upset. Please don't put words in my mouth. I am only stating about how I don't want to read it anymore. I don't hate Armin but he's by far my favorite character so it was a bigger blow for me to lose my favorite character versus if Armin was lost. Also yes I know it was best for Erwin but that still doesn't mean I'm going to be interested in finish reading. All of my favorite Characters are dead so I see no interest to finish.
He led them to a place where new people can take over. His dream was to make the basement, which is a short-term dream. Erin and Armin's dream is to be free, free enough to live beyond walls and see oceans. Who had the bigger dream? Who will be the next leader? Erwin and Levi know they aren't young (30s, and they outlived most of their colleagues). They are wearing down, while the new leaders are the younger ones, the ones who intend to take a better future, not just survive. By nurturing Eren, Armin, Mikasa, Erwin most certainly did his duty and fulfilled his leadership role of creating a force for the future.
Armin is one of my faves, he and Levi, and even if they both died, I'd still read it to learn what the hell they fought and died for. I need to know the heart of this mystery and if Bertie was a hero or a villain, which from an incomplete perspective, we still cannot really know.
@manganiME i still not convinced that armin will take over erwin's role. This serum drama will lead to a new progress, but not a story about armin as SC new Erwin. It's only in my mind,,, purely my imagination, but new progress will be about armin n eren not gonna stand side by side as friend anymore.
Anything could happen, sure. For me, the ideal is that they find out dark truths, but still apprehend enough freedom to live life on their terms, outside walls. Even if it's just the scouts who survive going off to find their own place in the open world. THat would make me happy. That there could somehow be peace and liberty.
Armin is a strategist and thinker, but he's not a warrior like Erwin. Physically now, he is better than Erwin due to Titan powers. And if he gets knowledge from eating Bertie (info about the village, the plan, the spies, the Ape Titan) he will be more useful than Erwin. All depends on what he comes up with with what he's acquired. Erwin was both determined, courageous, a tactician, and cunning. Armin is intelligent, strategic, creative, and loyal to his dream, his friends, and justice (as much as is possible). I think given more experience and time, he will be BETTER than Erwin. And there may be secrets about his past that come into play, too. Who he really is.
I still find this story compelling, if tragic and hard to read at times. The mystery, the complications. So much still to find out. I'm super engaged. And I love when a manga give sme complex reactions, like both cheering Bertie's demise and regretting it--at the same time.
@manganiME u can check at isayama latest interview, it is stated, that not so far in the future armin will be an opposition for eren.
That would be interesting--to see what makes them adversaries. Maybe Armin will get insight into something and realize they are on the wrong side. I"ve always considered that possibility. That we only get THIS side, and THIS side may be the villainous one and the other one is justified. Or both have justifications. Or Eren's thirst for vengeance will go out of control. Or whatever. That's what makes this tory interesting.
I'll add that even if Armin is in opposition to Eren, it doesn't mean they stay opposed. Stories with good conflict bring in opposition, but there is also teh possibility of reconciliation. Friends can become enemies, then friends again.
That's good storytelling: changes and arcs.

Don't you just love the way Levi tears up, he seems so painfully relieved that Erwin is breathing. I also love how he starts to draw back the outstretched case almost immediately and after seeing Erwin alive he cradles it against his chest as if in protection. I feel so bad for Armin but my Erwin X Levi sensors were at overload. ⁄(⁄ ⁄·⁄ω⁄·⁄ ⁄)⁄

Don't even think about it girl. Levi will kick your ass or kill you in a heartbeat. He went crazy bad on all those titans for the sake of Erwin and with him being alive he's not going to let anyone stop him. Levi you prove more and more about who you care about the most.

Wow I just saw some of the raws and.......I'm so sorry to all the fans of Armin......I'm still hoping on Erwin getting the Titan Serum and Levi pulling through like always with being just awesome and kicking all those titans butts to get to Erwin. Even if Armin isn't yeah no...already gone Erwin would still be the best candidate for the serum. Armin is smart and Courageous hell yeah he is BUT he has always been the weakest out of the group physically and let's face it they need a strong person to take the serum. Not to mention guys let's all remember about Eren, he is a Tragic Hero and all Tragic hero's suffer and suffer and suffer. What would be worse than losing one of his dearest childhood friends. Like with thinking of Revenge for his Mother this would possibly make Eren unlock yet another titan ability in his grief and rage. As for Erwin I don't think he's meant to die yet, but he will die eventually by the hands of LEVI. Even though at the time when Levi threatened to kill Erwin along time ago it was due to the circumstances he in the years following developed respect and positive feelings for the commander, however he is sworn to wipe out all titans like he PROMISED the commander and said so even in the previous chapters. I Feel Erwin would Command Levi to wipe him out as well in the end. Damn.......I Depress myself further with my thoughts.

erwin already lived his life while armin is barely starting his and did you forget when erwin said that armin's important? if erwin can see past armin's weak physique and value his brains then why can't you? armin doesn't necessarily need to be a titan that kicks ass, he can just be turned into one to save his life and share the info he got.
eren has suffered jfc, his mom got killed, and then there's the ordeal with his dad, then hannes died, and now this with armin. eren has suffered.

First off Wow your acting like i'm hating on Armin, just because I said he was weak. He is WEAK, i'm sorry to break it to you but I in no way said he deserved to die, heck a lot of them don't need to die but in this manga they sadly do. Also How is it poor Writing if Erwin Lives?? He still has a possibility of surviving just as much as Armin does. Also just because Erwin is older means he needs to die?? Armin wouldn't be the first young person to die in the manga. Also I already stated that Eren has Suffered you don't need to repoint that fact out to me, I only said that since Eren in the last few chapters hasn't really been helping I'm thinking that Armin getting hurt or his possible demise will prompt Eren to the next level of Titan Awesomeness. Also just because you don't think Erwin has any more purpose doesn't mean that it is true. Frankly Erwin is my favorite character and I obviously think differently, also as with the previous chapter so does Levi. I see a lot of foreshadowing and one of those foreshadowing points was Levi stating only one person could have the serum and all he thinks of is Erwin, Plus it has not fully shown Erwin dead yet. it is poor writing because it doesn't make sense to kill a main who's just starting to get proper development when erwin's been physically useless since he's lost his arm and has been at death's door for such a long time now, it's as almost as kishimoto's poor writing when killing neji off.
i know armin's not as physically capable as the rest but he has his wits to make up for that.
