I'm not quite sure since I read the novel along time ago but Mielle decided to push her dad down the stairs and blame it on Aria. But Asher arrived on time and used his ability to take them to a far town away so they will have an alibai. Btw, her dad is in a really bad condition where he can't talk or walk. Then they go to court, and Aria won since Miellie is a stupid dumbass. A lot of things happen. Mielle attempts to poison Aria's teacup, Aria knows so she gave Cain the tea to drink. Then Cain died. And Jesse, Arias maid was like, "omg that cup was meant for lady Aria". And then I'm pretty sure Mielle was executed.
