WIth the clue we got I think NOra dad had another son and he died or something ? Maybe he want to toughen up Nora so he is sure tht his son is strong and ready to fight everything or something. (Not saying its right its totally wrong) But maybe there id a way he will redeem himself

Where is that from? I think that is just a crown prince and he protect the crown prince because he loved the late empress.

Well I don't think so. The other kid we saw was the crown prince and this attention-hungry bastard probably messed up Nora's relationship with his parents because he wanted to be showered with love and couldn't bear to let Nora be the lone child of this happy family.
My guess is that he always intruded in Nora's family life and that he wished to get the attention of his parents. Hence he studied with Nora's father and made sure to be considered as Nora's brother (something like that?). So when Nora wasn't as good as this bastard he would be belittled and when he didn't as a perfect child (like the crown prince bastard) he would be labeled as a problem child.

Well first part is pretty much fact but the second part is only a guess of mine so feel free to tell me if you're thinking of something else.

I think (not quite sure if my memory is right) there was a part where the Crown Prince is jealous of Nora because he has a complete and happy family unlike theirs? And Nora always look happy before (I remember him smiling a lot when he was a kid). So the crown prince always make sure to look good in front of Nora's parents. Nora's father was also fond of the Crown Prince because of the late empress (tbh, he looks like he likes the empress too,,, idk). They also always treat the Crown Prince better because aside from being a prince, he lost his mother after all. I bet someone even asked Nora to help and understand the crown prince before.

Although I don't think that's the only reason why Nora's father is like that to him. Someone suggested that Nora's father is afraid that Nora is better than him. Though I personally think the opposite. I feel like Nora's father doesn't think highly of Nora. I feel like to him, he's just a rebellious bastard or something.

I agree that there's a high possibility that Nora is alwaaays compared to the Crown Prince though. Aside from being neglected, if he were compared and belittled, that would reaaally explain alot about his rebellious behavior.

To be honest though, i think the only reason that the duke treats shuli the way he does is because shuli looks like the late empress. The fact that his relationship and shuli’s “husband” (i forgot what he’s called lmao) was barely mentioned, maybe once or twice, but i’m not sure though. When the duchess asked her to look after nora and how the duke responds to it is also something i think is suspicious. Almost as if he doubts her or something? Then again it could just be my trust issues from all the other manhwas lol.

That totally makes sense, too! I can't remember if the duke, Nora's father, was known to be kind or not. But either way, if he were actually just kind to Shuli because of the late empress, I would totally be sooo disappointed.

Yes! his reactions that time kinda makes me feel like he really doesn't trust his wife. It made me think that he might be suspicious of her intentions. And idk why but I feel like he doesn't want Nora to 'fix his behavior' (idk how they term it hgghv) and become a better person,,, or maybe he's just that distrusting of him :((

I just realized, maybe the marquis, the duke, the emperor and the late empress was involved in some drama that led to the empress' death? And maybe the marquis found shuli not only for his gain (to take care of the house of marquiz whatever it's called and the kids) and to take "revenge" on them since shuli and the empress looks so similar. This is just something I came up with, and the theories I make with are terrible so no need to take my seriously lol

I thought the late empress was sick or something? But if she was not, that makes sense too. Though the duke doesn't really seem to be affected by Shuli's existence (I expect him to react more surprised and act more suspicious if it was really a revenge).

I really thought Shuli was related to the late empress before though. Like a hidden child, a younger sister or something like that.

I guess then my theory is incorrect...

Unless shuli’s the empress’ doppelgänger (lol) there’s a high chance of them being related.

He is probably plotting to steal her away and make her the pricess or smthing so the royal blood can yield the sacred sword or shit like that to make the Kalisto Dukedom lose power and stuff

That makes sense. Though I feel like they just want to create a scandal against the Kalisto. The duke's action to save her was not entirely against the law, but really improper for someone of nobel birth. So if she were proven to not be a Kalisto, the duke will lose face and might affect the power/influence of the dukedom. Vice versa, if she was proven as a Kalisto, people will talk about it. Thus, increasing their popularity that can later on increase the dukedom's influence.

But still, the emperor, himself, is involved. Based on how they sabotaged the results, it makes me think that they're making a huge deal out of it just to maximize the potential lost and damage to the dukedom :C
