No Jesse's is a product of an affair. Purple haired consort's wife cheated on him and has Jessie. That's why he hates him. But it wasn't Jessie's fault his mom cheated.

Ya when she forgave the shitty family and they all became adoring of her, she's clearly not leaving and now it's just going to be who she gonna fall for. But we already know it's black ML so where is the mystery, no where. I'm dropping.

Watching the anime makes it a bit easier to understand this current situation. It covers a good part of it if not all.
The anime is different and not following the novel for the last/latest chapter and makes it more confusing in my opinion.
If something helps to better understand it, it would be the novel because the manga follows the novel.
