on a random note - storing tea on a ship during that age; wouldn't it get moldy if stored underneath deck at sea? assuming wooden sailing ships, the salty air, humidity below deck, wooden storage (cuz metal would get rusty due to the corrosive properties of the salty air... don't think they would have adequate coatings yet), don't add up to favourable conditions... sorry, this point has continued to bug me -.-; I always thought pickled veg were the final solution to scurvy, tho according to wikipedia, the east India company went with lemon, oranges and lime juice.....
