I will be honest I didn't really understand what was going on and I don't think it was due to the translation.
I guess the the protagonist has anxiety and thinks that people see him in a bad light.... and wanted to be seen as cute? I didn't really understand much else but I still enjoyed it

Basically the protag was told by his parents and Kana that he was cute all his life and he believed it and it became a huge part of who he was. He was being delusional about why he wasn't getting the treatment pretty people like Kana was. Nobody really dared to tell him in his face that he was plain
Then he heard his classmates talk about him and that's when he realized that he wasn't as cute as his parents and Kana said he was and that people saw him as plain and delusional

I still think that the author tried to make the protag seem less shallow but didn't execute it well. It is hard to imagine how he would feel if an extremely attractive person did exactly what those could workers were doing. I say exactly because if not he could always spin it as the attractive person not being mean and make excuses.
I honestly have no idea how I meant to be feel towards all of the characters.
