I get what you mean, though I feel the romance is essential here for the MC who’s on a journey of discovering what family and a normal life is supposed to be like.
To be honest he doesnt really need a love life, unless he wants to, because he's already getting love from his family what more does he need? And in the beginning he said he wants to just spend time to his family nothing more. And don't you think their taking his time away from his family by making him be a bodyguard?
Well the romance is obviously not going to happen right away, but it’s a part of life. I mentioned the discovery of life because it’s a wish that her father had for him from the get-go; for him to live as a normal teenager. So I don’t think that the story really limits itself to family considering he was enrolled to school almost as soon as he got back.
As far as the bodyguard stuff, it’s only temporary. I think it made sense for him to agree to help the family of the man who most likely taught him what warmth was for the first time since the plane crash. Finding out that she’s his daughter is probably what motivated him to take up her grand-father’s request to see what the bodyguards are lacking so they can do a better job of protecting her. I get that and I’m really not mad at that.
I just know that I’ll have an issue with this if they try to extend his time with the bodyguard stuff beyond what he’s agreed to.
My best suggestion for those of you who love an awesome MC without any romance is:
“Trash of the Count’s Family.”
The light novel is a masterpiece with over 600 chapters (granted I’m at 270 now) and the webtoon has 47 chapters so far.
Romance isnt a necessity for a normal life...Love is indeed a necessity.. however love also include amongst family and friends.
So i dont see why romance is essential...its not
