I'm just gonna go on a rant about something that really bothers me with this community and that is how bl's are written and how people perceive the story that is written.
First off the people, some of you guys are aggressive and it shows. I go to comment sections after reading a chapter and I see people talking about a side character that is the ...... reply
I think it's fine to have a traumatic character in a story. One where they have bad parents, was bullied, etc. What makes the character bad and annoying to follow is when that is their personality. Having trauma is not a personality trait, but rather a hurdle that people have to get over to better understand themselves and grow as a person. They wi...... reply
"My Suha". The story uses rape and toxic relationships as a way to make the story more dramatic. I wouldn't mind if the story used rape as a trauma that the main character has to get over, but the author uses it oppositely. Even in some cases, it's used as a way to make the two main characters grow closer together, and that's not right. A relations...... reply
Most of the time nobody asks each other what their interests are or what they really enjoy. My friends don't even know that I watch anime and love analyzing characters and stories. I just wanted to know what people like to do. Even if it the most obscure thing. Like making fantasy maps or sewing tiny clothes. Feel free to go into detail.
I feel like when I read bl's it's common for one of the two leads to be SA or for the main couple to be between a child and adult. I think that some bl's can use these troupes in good ways that make for interesting character dynamics and storytelling, but that usually isn't the case. A lot of the time, they use these as a way to make the relationship between the two stronger, and then after the issue is solved, the trauma from the event magically disappears. I personally don't like when stories are written like this because it kind of ruins to plot or character, but I see it so often. Not to mention that when I go to the comments people seem to enjoy it a lot. I do enjoy angst but not in this way. Anyway, I wanted to hear your opinions, whether you disagree or not.
Ok I'm actually curious about other people who read yaoi. As a pansexual women, I feel like most people on this site are women but I feel like being apart of the lgbtq+ community is also pretty common. I don't know if it just me reading to many yaoi, but how may people are apart of the lgbtq+ community and read yaoi?
