I wanted to like it--but there wasn't a lead up, no initial "maybe"attraction. And I begun to hate the seme because he was one step away from using physical (not just rape) violence to get his rape-y sex. And for something this short, there wasn't any humor involved (like, I just slept with my annoying Koufax! Sort of stuff) *sigh* I just couldn't get into it at all, and this is from someone who has read a lot of "sex before love" sort of genres--except in those instances, the uke normally has some sort of initial attraction or something for the seme. Maybe if the story was elongated, and the uke able to build up his feelings along with his hatred and huge pride, and then less freaky ass seme....but no. it annoyed me that seme forces himself on him and then afterwards he acts all romantic and innocent and naive. I love split/twisted personalities, I love yaoi, I am a very understanding person...but rather than saying I hate it, it more just really annoyed me. Sad, cuz I loved the rooftop manga and some other of the mangaka's work ):
I feel like the more sasaki recovers his memories of the past and connects with them, that the plot begins to make more sense. I was totally lost before with so many characters I didn't even know but expected to know. But the more encounters in :Re that make a connection to kaneki, are when the story begins to stop, pause, and begin to decide to make some more sense, lol
Love this manga, but I might have got this confused with another manga because I kept thinking he was going to move out after chapter 4 and go and become an actor to be independent and the he and his brother would meet again when they were older as an actor in one of his brothers dramas. UGH why can't I remember the name of the other manga? Help!!
So a lot of people have said they do not know what is going on; so here I am breaking it down:
So our protagonist wakes up in a goth nightclub that is what I assume, much like a host club, but with a vampire theme. However, the owner, and supposed love interest, is also a real vampire, and not just the vampire he is pretending to be for the club. Thus, the surprise and irony of the situation. Protagonist is only in the vampire themed club because his friend drags him there to cheer him up after he is fired because he refuses an offer of marriage from the boss's daughter at his company. I assume he gets super drunk and friend leaves him there, whereas, he meets the club owner, who reveals himself as a real and not a pretend vampire. In addition, the vampire reveals that he also has been watching over our protagonist and is interested in him since he saved him from dying (idk from what, maybe hunters) when protagonist was only a child, at his orphanage. Protagonist leaves nightclub, weirded out that he has a stalker vampire, and the next day happens and he has to adjust to being reassigned because of earlier refusal of marriage of boss's daughter. Talks to friend that brought him to the club and also is working where he is. Gets into fight with resident douche, who is obviously a dick that is taking over his old position as company elite. (Protag's friend also works now as the douche's secretary, which you can see he is ashamed of). Fistfight occurs, and our stalker Vamp watches on, and that it except that the story is to be continued. So that, my friends, is a very detailed, and direct summary of what happened.
I suppose some parts are to be revealed! Hope that clears the confusion (:
Really interesting premise despite that the description gives away what could have been a twist in the first chapter. But a good start and interested I seeing where this could go. Worth a read, at least for now, given that you can ignore some odd proportions in the art and really minor gore (like 2 panels really)
I saw an update, but still unsure... Is this series dropped or not? (To hope, or not to hope?)
