If you wanted a more appropriate equivalent he’d also have to suggest an alternative form of commitment. Rings, move in, etc. You’d think he’d realize how much of a romantic his boyfriend is, so it’d be nice if he’d vocalize why; cause it doesn’t sound like indifference towards marriage but an outright refusal of it so he should have some reason. And it’s a serious conversation, I’d like it if they talked more about it, like sat down — no sex — and spoke about their feelings for longer than 2 minutes.
