That’s how the cycle of abuse works sometimes, unfortunately. This does NOT justify Jaekyung’s actions (nor anyone else’s for that fact) but the things that happen to people as a children influence them so much more as adults then they even realize. People who’ve been abused typically either take that trauma and bundle it up inside becoming self destructive (Kim Dan becoming an alcoholic is an example of that behavior), or they feel like they need to continue that cycle in order to “get even” because of how unfairly they were treated (Jaekyung). It can also be a mix of both.
Oh yeah you're right, sorry I haven't thought that it's a cycle of abuse cuz I just questioned his behaviors towards doc dan It's the fact that young children interpret those abuse as a "normal" act and when these children grew up to have a child, the same thing will happen again and again. I remember reading it somewhere about a poster/video of breaking the abuse where the young you that is abused will continuously abuse the other you (your child). The fact that this happens on a daily basis makes me sad and many people died from it.
