He literally ONLY drowns himself in alcohol, falls into depression and an even more hostile behavior (dont know how he cuts his hair but it will soon be super short)and goes all skin and bones. I don't want to offend anyone so I would like to drop my say in this matter of Penelope and Eclis. We all know that Eclis was bought by Penelope in the Slave market and his clan/relatives are gone except him. So we can say that he has nowhere to go except in Penelope's place. Penelope tamed Eclis to become her sword knight and saved him whenever he's being bullied. However, what questions me is about the part where Penelope was saying that 'Eclis was the only one for her (?)' even if it's empty wouldn't that lead to Eclis having hope bc he has no one except Pen? And respectfully, I don't think what Penelope said here was good, it's more like she's leading him on. And if Penelope knew the game, why did she forgot Eclis (since in the og plot Eclis was also the one who brought back Yvonne) instead of letting him stay by his side as a guard, she completely forgot or neglected him.
Also, Eclis has a short time in every chapter so we couldn't see how exactly is he during his training. But it's his fault for being so full of himself that his master would love him. He was provided shelter, food and clothes, what more does he like? He's one helluva problematic slave I'd say. Also, he went and searched for Yvonne and when he came back being under Yvonne's spell, seeing how he's not even grateful to what Penelope did for him makes me think he really deserved what Penelope said in the latest chap. He was pretty obsessed to Penelope and that says a lot.
And my stand here in the latest chapter, Penelope should've handled Eclis better than getting angry and saying he should kill himself. She should've thought what will happen once she discarded eclis to yvonne ugh. And honestly, she never even reflected as to why eclis would even go that far. Eclis also don't know his place, he's a slave or a knight, he didn't have the right to move on his own when Penelope owns him. He also doesn't love Penelope, more like, he doesn't want to lose Penelope bc of his obsession (not love). They didn't properly communicate and it shows that both of them are at fault. Anyways, if y'all defend Penelope only, then that means you're the type of reader who don't see both sides and judges quickly.
I can see what you're saying. Not to defend Penelope but the reason why she kept saying Eclis was the only one was because he was the only one that she actually saw hope for a possible completion. With how the brothers were she found them hard to trust (especially Derrick). And with CP being as capricous as he is, he's too much of a wildcard for her to bet on their relationship actually having a stable fruition. Eclis was the only constant and (what she thought) would be easy to handle. She's only human after all, with all the high stress situations that happened to her she wouldn't be able to remember the details of the game. Yes, I do feel sorry for Eclis since he was basically forced into this dependent state due to his circumstances but I feel he got too selfish for his own good and in the end had every intention to betray Penelope when he thought of bringing Yvonne back to the estate.
Penelope could've been smarter with how she handled Eclis here but it's clear that he's a lost cause and has gone full yandere. Her keeping him around would be more dangerous for her since it's already proven that he is beyond her control/predictability (coupled by the emotional grievances she's feeling from his betrayal and losing her #1 lifeline).
Still their overall dynamics is an interesting read. And I don't think you're offending anyone with your opinion, everyone is entitled to theirs ( ˊ ᵕ ˋ )
I see ur point. Honestly, this is why I enjoy the story it just reflects humanity and how flawed we are. You are absolutely right nothing is ever right and wrong the thing is it's easy to judge when you are a bystander and not the one going through it. This is exactly what happens here with both characters who don't see the repercussions of their actions but instead live by instinct where Penelope is emotionally broken after trying to get out of the game at any cost only to be faced with the shock that everything was for nothing at least that's what she conveys through her resent actions and way of thinking and then there is Eclis who became obsessed because she became the only thing he had. Both are very natural behaviors that everyone can go through and while it's easy to say I would never do that the reality is that when you are faced with the situation you may act in a way you don't recognize. Again this is why I enjoy the story because it does not feel empty or as if there was no build-up and all of sudden characters are acting differently. I do think it‘s rather sad for the amount of suffering and unfairness both go through but again it reflects how in life we are not always surrounded by happiness and how one decision can change everything.
On a side note, I thought it was the bunny guy who was supposed to bring Yvonne not Eclis which is why Penelope felt so betrayed when Eclis brought her. That was when Penelope started losing hope and started to mentally go down.
Truly. This series is just so good at depicting very human characters, especially with Penelope. She knew from the beginning that the odds were stacked against her but was still somewhat optimistic. But throughout the story the emotional development of not just MC but the other leads as well was magnificently done.
Yes, Bunny boy was supposed to be the one to bring Yvonne back. The one who was supposed to bring her was adamant about not doing it knowing how it'll affect Penelope's position, while the one who was supposed to guard and protect her did it fully knowing what may go down just to isolate her from her ''family''. Ironic but an interesting development to say the least.

There's no concrete plots. Too many plot holes. No character story telling, just them appearing all of a sudden. Names being mentioned but not shown. A supporting character just randomly appeared and disappeared. Tbh this would be such a good/interesting read if the author really constructed their plot with more strong arrow pointing to each plots AND made the ML complex character. Cuz ain't no way he would be this fucking obsessed just bc of a promise
