Ash can’t tell lyle to directly move in with him yet because it would ruin the surprise. His pheromones and what he says now is because of his pre-rut symptom only. He already planned to surprise lyle’s and ask him to live together on valentine’s day(feb 14th), and if you notice in one of the panel; it’s currently feb 11th right now. However, the valentine’s gift didn’t go as plan because Ash’s rut will happen on Valentine’s day. Only after his rut end that he’s back to his right mind and ask lyle to move in with him.
