The way I don't care. Like ok, so you had reasons for your behaviour as a kid and before meeting the MC as an adult. BUT HE'S SUCH AN ASS. There was no reason to be such a d*ck and manipulate the MC later in life. I'm not going to even touch the rape and imprisonment but outside of that, he wasn't even a good person either. like huh? why are you forgiving him?
