How come toxic seme haters are here reading jinx?
Oh, I get you (≡^∇^≡) he's so handsome you can't stop reading, you'd prefer him being bo-- kind. You feel odd following each of his actions even though he's a jerk, so you feel the need to trash talk him to feel better after
…i’m sorry, am i missing something? is jaekyung not supposed to be a character the reader might “love to hate”? isn’t the whole chasing/groveling arc because he’s an asshole who severely mistreated dan? and the catharsis is in seeing him suffer for being an asshole and then…becoming a better person and a more suitable partner for dan when he realizes how awful he was?
i mean it’s evident the way you interpret this story and its events is different from how i do but i think everyone cursing him and wishing for him to die are having fun in their own way/aren’t being serious. whatever happened to separating fiction from reality? or does that now suddenly not apply to jaekyung. if there’s anyone it’s okay to wish death upon its a fictional character i know i certainly giggled when i thought “i hope he crashes his car” while seeing him driving LOL. but i also think him suddenly dying would snub the story.
U can still hate him can u not? And no imma keep reading idgaf he's fictional like we're not sending hate to anyone real why r yall pissed? There's plenty of things where I hate one of the mains and keep reading cuz I can. I even read some stories I dislike, yall are acting like this is brand new. He is literally written to be hateable if he's not well they're doing a bad job at making it otherwise
i don't see why you can't hate the main character though. i mean say what you want to say about what people can or can't do, people hate his guts regardless. LOL. like i said, sometimes the point really is to hate the character, or find them distasteful—of course this can apply to the main character, and certainly someone like jaekyung. as the main character he put our other main character through so much emotional and physical suffering...so what's wrong with hating him for it? especially since we've been given little to no real rhyme or reason for why he acts the way he does.
Repeating again what I said : he is a well-written character if you hate him, umh no even "hate" is too much "dislike" him is the right feeling, I don't say u dont have the right to, author made him detestable on purpose. But some ppl don't understand that, they don't even know what's the author purpose of that, they hate for just for the hate
You're so weird on that stop -_- why would I hate him for what he did to Dan? They don't exist, that doesn't mean I approve either. It makes sense why I don't hate him coz he's a fictional character and "hate" is a too strong emotion to feel toward a fictional character. Being a reader I put myself in the 2 characters positions, ppl in the other side imagine themselves being the victim and feel violated...
he’s a well-written character if you hate or, say, strongly dislike him, but at the same time it doesn’t make sense to hate him because he is a fictional character? i think you’re contradicting yourself, and it sounds a bit to me like you are ultimately trying to police how people feel about his character and behavior. or at least you disapprove of how people feel about him.
i mean what is the difference between “i hate jaekyung because he abuses dan repeatedly” and “i hate jaekyung because the author made him a hateable character” lol? i mean, well, there’s nuance there but does it really matter? i can acknowledge the author is making him an asshole all that i like, and think about how and why jaekyung came to be the way he did, i can even come to acknowledge him as a well-written character…and still hate him as a “person” or find his behavior reprehensible. similarly i can hate him both because of the way he acts And because as a character, he isn’t well-written. LOL. but honestly i wouldn’t hate a character for not being well-written, i’d be annoyed at the author more than anything. and disappointed, especially if they have potential.
jaekyung has potential as a character but i think as he has been throughout the first. 50+ chapters of this series, he was pretty lackluster and didn’t really show muuuch of a range of behavior. we’re only now starting to see something slightly different of him. 50 chapters is a long time to see a guy be an asshole and almost literally nothing else. i think it’s natural that people hate him to the extent that they do, with little to no room for sympathy. if that was the author’s intent then she succeeded. if that wasn’t her intent—if he was supposed to be a little sympathetic then, well. lol
How do you explain the fact that I liked the character from his 1st face reveal? I'm already prepared to like him whatever he done, coz I'm aware they gonna end up together, I'm aware he was gonna be rude, I know exactly how BL stories works so why would I HATE this fictional character this much when knowing all this? (So again for you to understand my point quick summary : u can dislike him but not hate him to the point you go comment you rage on him)
nope actually anyone can make a comment hating on a character they're not real lmao just like how u can love him even tho he'd be convicted in real life cuz he's fictional. you’re so dumb u couldn’t even grasp the wisdom they were spewing and thought they misunderstood u, but by ur summary they clearly addressed ur point. stupid ppl be the loudest and most braindead ppl ever.
Y'all talking about hating a character in general, I'm talking about Bls yaoi, how can u hate the seme?? Even I didn't hate Sangwoo or whatever his name from Killing stalking. Can you explain the difference between them and I or ppl like me?? Bro you don't know what's a yaoi/bl you reading shoujos and discover yaoi and don't understand it
lol my profile says otherwise, and no ur just stupid like im not even mad but like i actually think ur dumb. A yaoi or bl isn’t sacred to be exempt from ppl hating a character. idgaf what genre it is i can hate whoever??? like u can’t even comprehend anything simple. hate and like whoever u want, leave hate comments for whoever why do u care? let ppl enjoy media wtv way they want.
what shoujos? and actually i could? reading something doesn’t disengage with my ability to dislike any mc. I think u need extra detail if u don’t realize how dumb u sound rn. But alright lmao. Also not everyone operates like u and can handle reading things with someone they dislike being a mc of any kind.
You’re saying that it’s weird for people to feel such strong hatred for Jaekyung in part because he is fictional. I am pointing out that it’s perfectly normal for people to react strongly to fiction and I used people crying over movies as an example of this. If you think it’s normal for people to feel so strongly as to cry over a movie depicting fictional events, then why would it be abnormal to feel strongly over this webtoon that is also depicting fictional events?
Well yeah and I said that not everyone is going to react like you. You said I was weird for saying that you might just be into Jaekyung and what he does to Dan—aren’t you just admitting to that being true here? I’m not even saying you’re wrong to for that, but. LOL.
It’s fine if you like Jaekyung and even find him to be an interesting character. It’s fine if you like that he’s an asshole. Some people find that kind of character thrilling and engaging. Others do not. Even people who know how BL stories work can come to hate Jaekyung. And in fact I think for some people he’s an even more frustrating character precisely because despite him being so hateable, he’s going to end up with Dan who has been nothing but an angel (at least if Jaekyung doesn’t undergo sufficient enough character development). Whereas for other people, they like that kind of dynamic (grump x sunshine), and look forward to it being fulfilled.
I think it’s a matter of engagement with the material, suspension of belief, genre conventions, and writing…based on your responses it seems to be you’re suspending your disbelief and coming at the story at more of a distance from the actual events taking place throughout it, because you’re reading this with the genre conventions in mind and coming at it with certain expectations. Other people are more deeply immersed in this one story in and of itself and what’s happening within it, taking it at face value, so Jaekyung’s actions and their impact on others read loud and clear to them. Like, you’re calling Jaekyung just “rude”—to me that feels like a light word for his actions throughout the story, so it suggests that maybe there’s a different degree of seriousness with which we’re taking his actions to be. Which I know to be true because several times you and others have compared Jaekyung to other semes in other stories who have done worse. While that might be true, it doesn’t make Jaekyung’s actions within his own story any good, does it?
And again, as far as I can tell, Jaekyung was purposefully written to be an asshole with little nuance to his actions and behaviors thus far. So if you take this story at face value and you see Jaekyung for what he is and you experience that for like, 50+ chapters without anything changing, then of course it becomes incredibly easy to hate Jaekyung.
I think you’re conflating “hating a character” with “hating a whole story.” I think you’re also conflating “hating how a character is written” with “hating how a character behaves.” You can hate a character and how they behave while still liking the story as a whole and liking the way that the character is written. I don’t think anyone right now likes how Jaekyung behaves towards Dan—but they like the story overall and/or how Jaekyung is written and want to see the story to the end.
Me personally I can’t say I like this story LOOOL but I do still want to see it to the end.
Damn they cut my shit off. I said that I distinctly remember you saying that you felt disgusted by the loan sharks and Dan’s former employer during those scenes where they attempt to sexually assault and rape him because they felt too real. You DO care about how characters behave in their stories just like anyone else does, it’s just that you give a free pass to Jaekyung because he’s one of the main characters and you’re willing to read more nuance into him.
honestly i don't want to butt into this conversation because what everyone's saying is going right over your head but lemme get this right: you say you liked jaekyung right after his face reveal. is that your only criteria for liking or disliking a character? so as long as he's handsome you don't care what happens in the story?
Guys, did you see the new chapter of Define the Relationship? I wanted to post the link for the raws but mangago wont let me ;-;
