Even though I wanted to drop this a few chapters back, I kept reading it hoping that her biological family would realize that they're pressuring a small child who's still recovering from her past and present trauma. I was waiting for them to regret for pushing her and realize that they're making her feel unsafe with their selfish wish of wanting her back while that shitty queen was still in the Palace. But no! Every chapter is them forcing her to come back while shushu is not able to refuse them while she trembles in fear. Is her biological family dumb or are they just pretending not to notice that she's uncomfortable ? I'm finally dropping this, maybe I'll pick it up when it's completed but knowing the ending I'm not sure I'll enjoy the ending either.
That gay uncle gets on my nerves. Even though he is gay himself, he just can't admit that he's just drowning in self pity while others are leading happy lives. His words that he told to "protect" children ended up hurting Hiro instead. His self hatred is now hurting innocent people. He can't accept that he's jealous of Hiro's parents. There are many people in real life like him who don't put effort in finding happiness and want to drag others down because of jealousy.
I get that the author wants to continue the story but that doesn't mean that the asshole jerk needs a redemption arc. This is going to be that cliche of the immature jerk side character who is full of self pity because he had a bad experience. So he'll just hurt everyone around him and blame everyone else for it. Then he'll meet his true love and magically become a good person. I've had enough of this storyline, the author can just end the story but they decided to drag it out by using the worst side character
Personal opinion here: I loved this story in the beginning and though I still like it, it just feels too dragged on now. I still love the characters and the story but now I sort of want the ending because eveytime when it seems like it's going to end, the author introduces another Villain and another new character. So now I'm confused with the story. It's starting to get muddy and I wish it was more cleaner. This was my comfort read but now I have to use my brain power to understand the story.
I'm already spoiled about the ending but I still hate the biological family. I know the author wants us to like them since they had their own circumstances in shushu's first life, but I seriously hate them at this point. They are just selfish and act like Villains. They don't care about her and only think about wanting her back. She's practically scared right now and they're just making it worse. Since I already know what happens with shushu and her biological family, I'm just gonna drop this. The recent chapters are just making me angry. I thought I'll forgive them if they repent but nope! They're not repenting and just making shushu's life more difficult while thinking they're the good family and the duke family are the Villains. Yeah I can't deal with selfish people.
Spoilers :
I don't remember it well but it's the cliche backstory of the biological family misunderstanding the MC in her first life and the MC finally forgiving them for it. In the end she travels back and forth between the Palace and the duke's residence alternatively and stays with both her biological and adopted family equally. It's a safe ending but I actually personally wanted her biological family to let her go and she's allowed to a new life with the duke family.
Spoilers :
Basically she forgives her biological family and in the end she travels between the Palace and the duke's residence to stay with them alternatively. It's a very cliche ending. I would've been fine with it if the biological family isn't so aggressive and selfish in wanting her back like she's their possession.
I get the Uke has some sort of trauma which he is coping through playing around but I'm getting tired of how the author is going about solving it. The uke just goes back and forth between being a playboy and an innocent maiden, it's like he's two different people. And you can't solve everything by sleeping around. I thought the seme would help him heal but he's also reckless and is almost love bombing him. The whole thing feels messy. I'm okay with this if the story is supposed to be dark and messy but the author is showing it as cute and sweet which it isn't.
I get that she felt isolated from her peers because she had an abnormal upbringing. But now she's just projecting her insecurities and jealousy onto the chief and Ho became they seemed happy even when they're having an "abnormal" relationship. She just gave into her own insecurities while they're facing it head on. So them being together reminds her that she's the problem. I don't get why an immature adult child is butting into a grown man's relationship. He isn't even related to her, he's only a village chief who helped her out. He's almost 40, why does she care? Isn't she one of those people who's "giving him a hard time in a small village"? The author gave such a bad explanation for her meddling that I had to reread the chapter to make it make sense.
Again, they're treating her like an object. Is she some kind of doll who has to do everything they want ? Why are they treating the duke family like the abuser when they actually gave her a home to feel safe? The biological father (emperor) doesn't do anything about making the Palace safe for her, he's just so weak that he can't even go against the woman who killed his wife and hid his youngest daughter. But he treats the family who saved her like a criminal and wants her back to live in a toxic place where she might get abused again? The Prince is also acting like a brat and treating her like his possession. He's not even trying to understand her. I don't care about the circumstances or the past but her biological family is just red flags currently and I just want her to live her life safely with the duke.
I actually like this. Everything makes sense. All the characters have depth and great back stories that feels realistic in the story. The hints of romance suits the story and I like a MC who's pessimistic and learning the joy of living slowly. Nothing is overdone or cheesy. This story definitely needs a higher rating.
I get why Leniel is worried. Giselle is inherently nosy and gets involved in things because she cares about people. But she's not cautious and always puts herself in danger. Leniel who's also naturally possessive, can't help but lock her in his mansion since she tends to run into chaos. However I understand Giselle as well. Being locked inside without having the freedom to go outside can be suffocating. It's not a nice feeling that you're basically a prisoner caught by a yandere man. So I just want them to find a middle ground.
