Well i read the novel cuz i was impatient. I like it so much it was such a roller coaster ride of emotions. Althought ML is a redflag, sometimes i feel sad for him. Until the end of the novel he still can't understand why he is to be blamed for taesin and hayoung's suicide.
His family thought of him as a monster cuz he has no emotions.

imo brainwashing. women were raised to believe their husbands could do as they wanted and a virtuous woman always obeys her husband. it's pretty hard to think outside of that when that's the norm in society and you were raised like that.
