guys, itās a literal kid . i would understand if itās some older people who did some shady things, but the one that was left was a kid. someone who hasnāt lived long enough yet.. if i was in that situation iād try and go back too. iād rather die trying to save someone than live with the guilt of abandoning one
Major Kwak is definitely aware that something wrong there is at play. The way his eyes twitches when our beloved mc says heād rather die than give up on finding a cure says more about his feelings than anything heās ever said out loud. Itās not just concern, itās discomfort. Guilt, even. Itās subtle, but is very telling. The part where the camera is shown is also hinting that he canāt be fully honest. Heās not being secretive because heās loyal but because he is being watched the same way mc is. Plus, the line āmother is always watching,ā always feels so odd and cryptic to me. Itās a warning. Not just to mc, but also to himself, I believe. To remind his self of his situation. It strengthens the idea that he is also walking on eggshells.
He doesnāt want the mc digging any deeper. Not just out of concern, but because he knows, on some level that heās part of the very thing the mc is trying to uncover ā he knows his very presence upholds whatever twisted thing is going on beneath the surface and that he is far from innocent. His existence is part of the very problem itself and he knows that. In his own selfish, quietly desperate way, he wants to protect the mc from the truth because the truth would just ruin them both.
I think thatās why he gives mc small pieces of information, helping him from time to time. He helps just enough to keep the mcās curiosity from exploding, but not enough to actually solve anything. Heās not helping him, heās literally controlling the pace and the information that the mc will get. He wants to keep the mc busy, distracted, satisfied enough so he doesnāt start making sense of all the smaller clues around him. Because if he does, everything, including whatever Major Kwak is trying to protect, which is possibly himself is gonna be exposed and ultimately, destroyed.
Not that mc cares though. Lol
The red string with the girl already fizzled out, though? If you read carefully, youāll see that the red string faded/snapped after their interaction.
Could it be that the red string only shows someone like a love interest, and it disappears if that interest fades? Or could a specific action or choice like a butterfly effect trigger its disappearance? Iād argue that the red string could represent various connections and relationships, but from what weāve seen, the MC has only ever seen the red string with the male lead (besides the girl of course). So, I donāt think itās meant to indicate every important connection plus a place like a university meant that the MC could meet a lot of people, itās hard to believe that the male lead is the only one important connection heāll make in that setting.
And then, if the red string comes from a past life, could it be a connection thatās carried over from before? If so, does that make the string unchangeable, or can it still evolve depending on the choices the MC makes in the present? If it's really tied to a past connection, it raises the question of whether that bond is unbreakable, or if it could be reshaped with time and if itās not changeable, this would conflict with how the MCās red string with the girl just snapped because that moment already challenges the idea that the red string automatically means destiny or a lifelong bond.
Maybe the red string isnāt about destiny at all like what if itās more about the potential of it? It could appear when thereās a chance for something significant to form, and fade when that possibility fades. Like once that potential is gone (like if one person loses interest or the path between them changes), the string fades. So the red string might be more like a live signal of potential rather than a permanent link. If thatās true, the string could be more fluid, something that changes alongside with MCās emotions and decisions. It could be that there are other potential red strings that never appeared because of the MCās choices or timing. The red string might be conditional, only appearing when thereās a spark of possibility, emotional connection, or mutual interest.
