when i read “first bite” i also thought maybe Sakura realized what he could have had when he met yoshi’s eyes during that speech. he definitely looked regretful. with “renchin” tho i’m pretty sure sakura is straight and only sees him as a good friend. it’s possible he put some distance between them out of remorse, which is why he and yoshi don’t talk much in “renchin”. i also binge read this at 3am lol.

I agree it was more gruesome in the novel. They change the plot with the maid too because she didn't prevent him from drinking poison she really thought it was medicine and was convinced the prince was a demon who had magic voodoo spells on Abel killing him. Abel had to pick up a rat and feed it the poison to show her it was her that was killing him.

Only for a short period of time I think his dragon blood/powers heals him.
